Join Design Team Expert Lowri McNabb as she creates sweet, strawberry treat containers which can hold small prizes or candy.
Lowri here to share an idea for some easy treats! These strawberries are perfect for hiding sweets inside, or you could make a bowlful for some colourful spring decoration.
These strawberries are simple to make. I have made them using both a paper template and an electronic die-cutting machine, the only difference is that with the machine they are quicker to cut out!
There are a few patterns available online. Try this one here, which you can print onto plain cardstock for a template; or if you have an electronic die-cutter, you can purchase the cutting file here. With either method it is easy to shrink or enlarge the shape to create the size of strawberries you want. I tucked some treats inside before using strong paper threaded through all the holes in the petals to close. Don't worry about how it looks as you are going to be covering the top with the leaves of the strawberry.
These fabulous papers from the This and That Graceful Collection were perfect for this project, and I used the Kiwi green paper (kind of appropriate for me living in New Zealand) from the Dots and Stripes Soda Fountain for the leafy tops. A This and That Graceful Brad added the final touch to the colourful Strawberries.
The decorative box was created from the Yardsticks paper and this file, but you could easily use a plain box or straw basket.
Supplies List:
Echo Park Paper: This and That Graceful Collection Kit - THG27016, This and That Graceful Brads - THG27020, Dots and Stripes Soda Fountain Collection Pack - DSSF7016
Extras: Liquid glue, adhesive pearls
Isn't this a darling project? And think of all the fun you will have using papers from any of our collections. Try the papers found in our EP Essentials collections: Dots & Stripes, and Style Essentials. Or use a 6x6" paper pad for patterns with a smaller scale. If you recreate Lowri's project, we'd love to see it! Simply upload it to our Facebook page to share it with all of our fans or upload it to your favorite online gallery or personal blog and link us to the project here.

Anyone know how to close these boxes? I have the template to make them, but I don't get how to close them, & I've punched the holes already, overlapped them,... I'm lost. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

You can tread a ribbon through the holes on top and then through the leaf and then tie a knot or bow!

Thanks so much, Carrie S. for the tip about the ribbon! (I actually thought from the pictures I was supposed to use a brad; couldn't figure out how to spread the prongs inside, though! LOL!!)
