Hello, Echo Park friends! Tamara here with a fun mini recipe book. I recently got the gorgeous "Homemade" mini theme and was so inspired by it. I originally had something else planned for this post, but I HAD to break into the collection kit and figured a recipe book would be a fun little change of pace for this "foodie" blog post. I literally made this in about two hours.
So, here's my "quic"' mini recipe book. It has a recipe for flaky pie crust and some yummy cherry pie filling. This would be a cute gift with an altered jar with some cherries inside. And my book says "Grandma's Secret Recipe," but it's more like I grabbed whatever good reviews I could find on the web.

Here's the cover. I used my Sizzix Big Shot, leaf die, and Sizzix lilac die to cut these flowers in matching felt. A little tip when cutting felt: try to use 100% wool felt OR a nice wool blend. I always use wool blends because they are cheaper but hold up nicely and cut flawlessly.
I love the look the added felt flowers and button centers give to a project. When paper crafting not eveything has to be paper! Using other mediums adds a nice touch to your projects.
Now, on to the first two pages. I printed the recipes on vellum, added some stitching, and embellishments. The vellum looks great with a piece of patterned paper behind it.
For the grass I cut out a strip of felt and just cut it with scissors to "fray" it. It doesn't have to be perfect. Then I used hot glue and bunched it up on the bottom of the page for a cute border and to give it a little dimension.
The last two pages hold the cherry filling recipe and just a fun little area for a note, date, memory, etc. The trim under the recipe it just a strip of 11" x 1.25" paper hand-pleated and sewn. Add the pie sticker on top to complete the look.
That's it! I hope you love it! This is my first mini album/book and I am pretty excited about it. Well, more excited that I actually FINISHED one! I have started a few already. I have one in the works using the NEW Echo Park chipboard slide out albums, which I'm pretty excited about it! Thanks for stopping by.
The "Handmade" collection is perfect for handmade gifts or baked goods that you deliver to friends and neighbors. Have the kids help out for a special Mom and Child craft project!
