If you are familiar with digital scrapbooking on any level, then you can use Lowri's amazing tutorial to create iron-on projects. This would be a fun summer project to do with your kids! Be sure to check out Lowri's cool tips for this technique!
Hi Everyone – Lowri here to show you an idea using the fabulous Echo Park digital collections available at Jessica Sprague.
I have showcased this idea on my personal blog before; but when I saw the Hello Summer Collection available in digital format, I knew this would be the perfect collection to share the idea. This link will take you to the page to purchase the full digital collection online, but you can also purchase paper packs and elements packs individually.
Did you ever see an idea online and think, "It really can’t be that easy!" When I saw this post, I was inspired to try and print directly onto some plain fabric; and it really works! Check out the pointers below:
- You can purchase these sheets and print onto them in any regular printer; however, here in New Zealand they are imported and work out at about $6 per sheet. They DO work well; however, for about 30 cents a sheet I created my own version – read on!
- Inspired by this post here, I used some full-page labels and some white calico cotton.
- I stuck the label onto the cotton, smoothed out the creases and cut carefully around it.
- I printed onto the page (fabric side up and using the rear tray) with just regular color print settings on my inkjet printer. I imagine this would NOT work in a laser printer due to the adhesive on the label and heat involved.
I am not sure how color-fast this would be for washing, but for something like a decorative bag it works perfectly. I used the smaller square to make some fabric covered buttons using a $4 kit from the sewing store. I made a few but the yellow chevron print was my favorite.
I hope you can use this idea to get your imagination stirring! We would love for you to link back here or on our Facebook Page with any projects you create using these techniques. Please post a comment with any questions.
