Card Sketch with Design Team Expert Kandis Smith

Join Design Team Expert Kandis Smith as she shares her thoughts on creating a card from a sketch. Beautiful embellishments take this card from "ho-hum" to "WOW!"

Cardmaking is so much easier with a sketch in front of you! I love working with them and frequently search the internet for sketches. Once you get started on the card, it usually starts to take a different shape than the sketch anyways. It's just a nice jumping off point. On this card, I used the "Dots & Stripes" or you could use the "Style Essentials" collections. Are those layered hearts just the cutest? I jazzed it up with some pearl stickers and some machine stitching.

New Echo Park Paper Silhouette Shapes!

Welcome back to Monday! After a fun weekend of camping and family time with my favorite people, I'm ready to get back to the normalcy of the weekdays. But I'm not quite ready to give up having fun. So today I'm in a craft-making mood and can't wait to download our latest Silhouette Shapes. Last week we uploaded the "Homemade" Mini Theme Collection shapes onto the popular die cutting shape site. I thought I'd share a few of my personal favorites from this collection.

First is this ribbon, which you could use as a blue ribbon shape or just a fun element on your project:

I don't cook as much as I'd like but these canisters would be so cute on a card with tone-on-tone patterned paper for the canisters themselves:
And finally, I'm always collecting basic shapes. But these flowers from this collection are anything but basic--they are darling. I'll be putting these on lots of new projects. I can tell already:

Paper Beads with Design Team Expert Lowri McNabb

Hi Everyone – Lowri here to share an ideas for using the So Happy Together Collection to create some gorgeous paper beads.

This collection had some really wonderful color combinations, making it perfect for a fun summer project for you and/or the kids.

First, using a sharp knife or scissors, cut your paper to the shapes shown below. I like to cut an 11.5" template from an old cereal box and then draw multiple images by tracing onto scrapbook paper lightly with a pencil. Then use a knife or scissors to cut out (your kids may be able to do this depending on age, but you DO need to be reasonably accurate).

Recipe Layout with Design Team Expert Linda Auclair

Ok, true confession time: my girls and I have become “foodies” in the past six months or so. We are obsessed with the Food Network, and haven’t missed an episode of “Food Network Star” all season. We comb Pinterest together looking for fun recipes and cooking projects that we can make together. We’ve found cookie and cupcake recipes that feature coconut and lime which has become our favorite summertime flavor combination. Despite the summer heat, we’ve been baking together a couple times a week to try out our recipe discoveries. I wanted to document our Coconut Lime obsession in a scrapbooking format, and so I created this page using the “Homemade” Mini Theme collection. The rustic woodgrain paper is my favorite of the collection and made the perfect backdrop for my recipe instructions.  Sadly, I didn’t get a photo of our Coconut Lime Cookies before they were completely devoured, but I did get one of Coconut Lime Cupcakes. No matter! This summer will definitely be remembered by my family by its “flavor” – in our case, Coconut Lime!

Think of all the great recipes you could include in your scrapbooks. Our how about a recipe book using one of our Chipboard Albums? So many great ideas for including cooking in your memories.

Back to School Gift Set with Design Team Expert Tamara Tripodi

Please welcome Tamara today to the blog. School is right around the corner for many of us, and today Tamara created a fun gift set that would be perfect for the student or the teacher. You can create this same project using a digital die cut file.

Hello, everyone! Tamara here with a super simple and cute school themed gift set. I thought this would be great for the first day of school with some little cookies in the box, a giftcard, etc. It's super simple to make, although you will need a die cutting machine. (You can easily make this style matchbox by hand, too using a scoring board and tool.) My SVG cutting file is from SVG Cuts.

Here's my project again. Cute and simple:

I used the super cute "School Days" Mini Theme Collection to create this. A little touch of fun with gingham and red ribbon finished it off perfectly. For the pencils I created a little apple tag from the apple sticker backed with paper and cut out. Then I punched an eyelet in it and added some coordinating twine. Add a little ribbon and button and you're done. Now you're ready for giving this gift set to that special teacher or student!
