Design Team Expert Lowri McNabb created this darling treat or treasure box by using a die cut shape. This would make a great teacher gift or a fun back-to-school treat box for your child! Read through her instructions on how she created it.
Hi Everyone! Lowri here to share an idea for using the School Days Mini Theme to create a Teacher’s Gift Box.
This mini theme is so much fun with its bright images and great combination of papers. To create the basic box, I used this file from A Little Hut. I did have to do some editing in the Silhouette software in order to make such a large box, but it was my first time and really wasn’t too hard. I simply used the knife tool to “cut up” the file and then enlarged all the pieces at the same time to keep them in proportion. I then had to add a couple of simple straight lines back in where I had separated the pieces, but it was pretty straightforward.

The box cleverly forms an apple shape on top, which I decorated using some of the stickers from the collection. That lovely red chevron paper was actually from the Homemade Mini-Theme and matched perfectly!
To create the little pennant, I wrapped and glued some multicolored twine around a cocktail stick. I then handcut a small flag from the “Rulers” paper as a base and mounted the "Go Team" pennant sticker on top. Using the brushes and pencils stickers both under and over the ruler twill tape helps add a little dimension.
I cut a strip from the “Rulers” paper to go around the bottom of the box and then added the stickers for decoration. They are mounted with dimensional dots; but to stop them sticking to the base I remove the stickiness from the back of the sticker with talc first, effectively turning them into die-cuts. They are so thick and strong they stand up to the mounting perfectly! That "A+" sign looks a little too much, but I made a mistake cutting the tape and so I had to cover it up – I love stickers!!
