Create a beautiful shadow box with a scene designed with the Everyday Eclectic collection. Design Team Expert Linda Auclair shows you how!
Everyone needs a little gentle reminder now and then that you care, which is I why I love décor pieces that share a positive affirmation of some sort. With just a little adhesive, a simple wooden box can become an uplifting accent in your home. I have made a variety of shadowboxes and wall art over the years, and I change them out around the house often in the hopes that they will provide a little encouragement for my kids. Echo Park’s “Everyday Eclectic” collection makes it easy to mix and match patterned papers to create a unique décor piece that conveys your message. I love the Element Stickers that coordinate with the collection, because grouped together they provide just the sort of message I want to convey.
"Dream Big" Shadowbox Tutorial
Materials needed:
* Wooden shadowbox
* Echo Park Paper’s “Everyday Eclectic” supplies: EE33019 Kraft/Wood, EE33006 Kraft Clouds, EE33012 Kraft Doily, EE33014Element Stickers
* Mod Podge decoupage medium (Plaid)
* Xyron permanent adhesive
* Foam tape
* Stickles glitter glue
Instructions:
Remove the back of the shadowbox and measure the inside surfaces. Cut the EE33019 Kraft/Wood patterned paper to match the depth of the box and apply with Xyron or Mod Podge. I prefer using Xyron adhesive on anything that is glass to avoid accidental drips, so I used my Xyron here.
Measure back of shadowbox and cut EE33006 Kraft Clouds paper to size. Build your sticker collage using from flat to raised using foam tape to overlap creatively and create depth with the stickers.
Embellish stickers with Stickles glitter glue, and set aside to dry.
Measure sides of shadowbox and frame, and cut papers to size. I used the EE33012 Kraft Doily for the sides and the turquoise reverse side for the frame front. Use Mod Podge (or Xyron) to adhere paper around the sides of the box, trimming flush with the edges. Use Xyron to adhere paper to the front of the box, mitering corners if desired.
Assemble shadowbox with dimensional collage, and embellish with additional stickers.
There are several Echo Park Paper collections that would make darling shadowbox scenes. Try using the "Paradise Beach" collection or the "So Happy Together" collection.
