Introducing NEW Design Team Expert Davinie Fiero!

Please welcome our second new Design Team Expert: Davinie Fiero. Davinie has a fun, fresh style and lots of ideas to share with you!

We took the opportunity to ask her a few questions so we (and you) could get to know her better!

What is your favorite Echo Park Paper collection?

I love the color palette in "Everyday Eclectic," but I also love the "This & That Charming" line.  I’m a sucker for turquoise and yellow with brown.

Where do you reside?

Central Oregon

Where do you do most of your creating?

In my very own craft room downstairs.

Tell us a little bit about your family:

I’m married to my local firefighter and raising two sweet girls on a couple of acres in Central Oregon.

What’s one scrapbooking tool you can’t live without?

I use my sewing machine on every layout and can’t live without it. (I love that her answer is the same as Susan's. How fun! I love sewing too.)

What’s one tip you can share with our readers regarding scrapbooking?

You are trying to tell a story. Choose paper and embellishments that enhance the story your photos are trying to tell. 

Are you a card maker, scrapbooker, altered artist or a combination of these three?

All three, really.  But I mainly scrapbook and make cards.

Do you have additional hobbies besides scrapbooking?

I sew, I cross stitch, I garden, and I am a chauffer for my kids.

Anything else you’d like us to know about yourself?

I’m in Grad school and will graduate in May with my teaching certificate and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I took a 12 year break from school and am excited to finally finish a degree I’ve wanted to pursue since I was a little girl.

Introducing NEW Design Team Expert Susan Stringfellow!

We're super excited to welcome two brand NEW Design Team Experts to the Echo Park Paper Design Team. Today we're introducing Susan Stringfellow, a talented designer with an eye for detail and beautiful embellishment.

We took the opportunity to ask Susan a few questions to help us and you get to know her a little better.

What is your favorite Echo Park Paper collection?

Right now my favorite collection is "Paradise Beach," but it tends to change each time I get a new collection on my desk. 

Where do you reside?

I live in Houston,Texas.

Where do you do most of your creating?

I do all of my creating in my scraproom, it's not large and beautifully decorated, but I love it.

Tell us a little about your family:

I have a very silly husband and 3 equally silly boys who are all super tall, and are often the subject of my layouts. Our oldest son is in the Air Force. Our middle son finished his tour with the Marines and is home going to college with our youngest son. We also have three very spoiled kitties who like to "help" me create.

What is one scrapbooking tool you can't live without?

Can I say that it's my sewing machine? It's not a traditional tool, but I just cannot seem to scrapbook without it.

What's one tip that you can share with our readers regarding scrapbooking? 

Break the rules and have fun! This is your scrapbook, so if you want to use less than wonderful  photos, put flowers on a boy page, or let your child finger paint right on your layout, I say, "Go for it!"

Are you a card maker, scrapbooker, altered artist or a combination of these three?

I do make cards and altered pieces, but I really like scrapbooking the most.

Do you have additional hobbies besides scrapbooking?

I like to crochet, and my mom taught me to knit this past year, so I made lots of soft scarves for family as Christmas gifts. We didn't even have winter really, but my family loves soft cuddly things so it worked.

Die Cut School Box with Design Team Expert Lowri McNabb

Design Team Expert Lowri McNabb created this darling treat or treasure box by using a die cut shape. This would make a great teacher gift or a fun back-to-school treat box for your child! Read through her instructions on how she created it.

Hi Everyone! Lowri here to share an idea for using the School Days Mini Theme to create a Teacher’s Gift Box.

This mini theme is so much fun with its bright images and great combination of papers. To create the basic box, I used this file from A Little Hut. I did have to do some editing in the Silhouette software in order to make such a large box, but it was my first time and really wasn’t too hard. I simply used the knife tool to “cut up” the file and then enlarged all the pieces at the same time to keep them in proportion. I then had to add a couple of simple straight lines back in where I had separated the pieces,  but it was pretty straightforward.
