When Linda recently sent me this idea, I fell in love with it! By simply using two different collections, you can create an entirely new look for the same layout. Watch as Linda transforms the same layout with the For the Record 2 collections!
When my girls were little, I was often asked if they were
twins. They are actually two years apart
in age, and I suppose if you gave them a quick look, you might think that they
resembled each other enough to possibly be twins. Aileen was very tall for her age, and Brigid
was slightly shorter than average. They
have similar coloring, and when they were small they wore their hair the same
way: straight with bangs. If you looked
closer, though, you would begin to see the differences. One daughter has blue eyes, one has brown
eyes. One prefers classic styles with
un-fussy lines, the other is an all-out fashionista. Even as little girls, they each had their own
distinctive style, and once you knew the girls, you would never be confused
between the two of them.
The layouts I would like to share with you today illustrate
how the color scheme you choose can impact the overall look of your page. I’ve used the same photograph with an almost
identical page design, but I used a different For the Record 2 collection for each one to achieve a different
tone and style for each page. It is a
trick that I often employ when I am creating pages using the same photograph
for each of my girls’ albums.
The first page uses the
"Documented" collection. I played up
the blue tones in the photograph, and added a splash of sunny yellow arranged
on black cardstock for a striking contrast. This page would be perfect for my daughter Brigid’s album. It is clean, crisp, and slightly understated.
The second page uses the "Tailored"
collection in a similar arrangement of horizontal bands of color surrounded by
border stickers, but with a more feminine look. I used the bold floral print and the butterfly embellishment, and
rhinestones to further enhance the page. This one would be perfect for my little
fashionista, Aileen.
