Today Design Team Expert Linda Auclair walks you through the details of her lovely Disneyworld Epcot Center adventure. Check out the special details and great ways for incorporating ephemera in your own Designer Photo Sleeves. Linda uses the "Today's Story" collection for this event.
I can’t say enough good things about the Photo Freedom product line! It is the perfect way to simplify your scrapbooking process, and document those precious memories and photographs quickly and easily. Traditional 12" x 12" scrapbookers can also find plenty to love in the divided pages, and will find that there are plenty of ways to take the format to the next level with embellishments and clever manipulation of the pockets.
I used the 12" x 12" page protector for my introduction page to the Epcot portion of my Photo Freedom album about our family vacation to Walt Disney World. I used pieces of the park map and brochure throughout my pages; and on this page, I found it to be a great backdrop to a group photo taken by the Disney PhotoPass professionals as we entered the Epcot park.
Each of my Epcot pages uses a variety of the perfectly sized journaling cards and sentiments from the “Today’s Story” Photo Freedom collection kit mixed with stickers and embellishments from previous Echo Park Paper collections that I had in my stash. I used actual ephemera like receipts and candy wrappers from our trip in some of my pockets.
I journaled directly on my photos in PhotoShop before I
printed them. This allowed me to tell
more of the story without sacrificing the important photos and ephermera that accompanied
it.
For my page about our stop in Ireland, I included the recipe
for one of our favorite dishes sampled at the Food and Wine Festival. I sized my documents in Microsoft Word, and
printed them directly on the patterned paper. They were a little longer than what would show in the pocket, but that’s
ok. They easily slip in and out of the divided
page pockets.
There are so many possibilities with the Photo Freedom
system. It truly will change the way you approach scrapbooking!

Today we wanted to introduce you to one of our brand new Design Team members, Laurel Seabrook. We asked Laurel a few questions so that you could get to know her better.
What is your favorite Echo Park Paper collection? Wow, that is a tough one I have pretty much every Echo Park collection and love them all. If I have to choose one it would have to be "For the Record."
Where do you reside? British Columbia, Canada
Where do you do most of your creating? I am lucky to have a craft room. When we were buying a new house, my wishes were a willow tree and a craft room. I got one of them.
Tell us about your family. I am married with two girls ages 17 and 14, and I teach grade one. We have a dog, a cat, and now a turtle. As a family we like to camp in the summer and even take our cat with us!
What's one scrapbooking tool you can't live without? Definitely my paper cutters. I have the mini chopper and a large chopper, and they are both my most used tools.
What's one tip you can share with our readers regarding scrapbooking? I say you don't have to scrap every photo of every occasion. Pick a few good ones that tell the story and use them. Be sure to journal when you do the page as you most likely won't get back to it. Finally don't forget to document the everyday things. The things that make you and that defines you and your family's daily life.
Are you a card maker, scrapbooker, altered artist or a combination of these three? I love to do all three of these. I do mostly cards as I like how quick they are, but I love fixing up garage sale items to give as gifts or keep for myself. And of course documenting my family's life, which is why I love to scrapbook.
Do you have additional hobbies besides scrapbooking? I do love photography and painting. I used to do decorative painting, but with limited time I can't do it all and paper crafting is my passion.

Please join Design Team Expert Kandis Smith for a lovely "Winter Wishes" project. This collection is perfect for the cold weather season whether you have snow or not.
Winter (in Idaho) is always filled with whites and blues, and that's such a great
combination; but I love that this Winter Wishes collection has a little
purple thrown in. It gives it a bit of whimsy! I created this layout of my
son playing in the first snowfall of the year. I think that little
penguin is to die for so I added him in there with a chevron border
sticker and some trees. Some small embellishments really help make the
penguin pop. I added in some pearls around him and also added some photo
corners to my page to help bring the eyes across the layout.

Please welcome Design Team Lowri McNabb to the blog today as she shares a printer's tray home decor project. This project can easily be changed by using any of the Echo Park Paper holiday collections.
Hi Everyone! Lowri here today to show you an idea for a gift frame I decorated with the This and That Christmas Collection.
This collection is so versatile
and the variety of patterns in this collection makes it really easy to put
together a quick Christmas project. First of all I wanted to show you a two
minute trick for turning a plain wooden piece into one with a dark wood grained
effect.
This will work on any number of surfaces, but works really well as an alternative to painting raw wooden pieces. First of all, simply use a sponge (or your regular ink applicator) and color the frame with Distress Ink (I used Vintage Photo). When dry then use a brown ink and a wood grain stamp all over the frame. Vary the area of the stamp you use for a random wood grain effect and in a few minutes your frame will look great!
When I create these frames, which come
in two pieces: a front face with the shapes cut out and a solid back piece,
instead of trying to cut paper to fit the front, I cut paper approximately
1.5mm larger on each side and glue to the reverse. This way you get a perfect
piece of paper inside the frame and it looks very neat.
I love that the papers in this collection
have so many elements that can be easy used as accents too. This little
“Stockings” print was on the Journaling Cards Paper
and it’s so great. I have also used pieces from the This and That Collection Chipboard and some assorted wooden veneer pieces as embellishments.

We were so pleased that so many of Design Team returned this year for our 2013 team. We've added a few new faces. One of them is super talented Olga Vasilieva from Russia! We asked Olga a few questions to help you get to know her a little better:
What is your favorite Echo Park Paper collection?
- Oh, a very difficult question. They all are very beautiful but maybe "Sweet Day" matches my style more than the others.
Where do you do with the items you create?

I usually sell them (as most of them are ordered), but I also gift them
or create just for my family or my own usage (like notebooks).
Tell us about your family.
-
My family is not very big. I have two sons and my lovely husband. My
sons are 2 and 3 years old and my husband is 35. He works in a very big
automobile dealer company. My husband always supports me and likes
everything I do. My naughty sons never let me scrap when they are at
home and don't sleep so I have to create things only during their day or
night rest.
Before I go back to work I try to spend all of my time
with my family: in summer we usually go to the seaside (we like the Red
Sea), and in winter we go in for sports. Actually we are very different
but also have many things in common: we both like sports but he likes
snowboarding and I like skiing, we are both fond of reading but he
prefers history novels and I like detective ones. We both like driving
but he enjoys driving his motorcycle and I like driving our big car,
etc. We always try and take our children with us in spite of they are very small. My family is the most important thing in my life and I'm very happy to have it.
What’s one scrapbooking tool you can’t live without?
- I guess they are the Big Shot machine and a cutting tool.
What’s one tip you can share with our readers regarding scrapbooking?

If you like to use stitching in your work, always take care about the
back side. Even the stitches with the scissors handles or any other
tools and thus you'll hide the holes.

- I used to be just a scrapbooker before, but now I'm a combination of these three
Do you have additional hobbies besides scrapbooking?
- I have 2 children who take most of my time so I just don't have enough time for any other hobbies except scrapbooking.
Anything else you’d like us to know about yourself?
I've
been working in one of the biggest consulting companies of the world as
a financial analyst, and I'm going to be back to work after the
maternity leave ends. Now I spend most of my free time on making things
for myself, my friends and family and just for sale. I like shabby chic
and classic styles. In my work I like to use inks and stamps, ribbons
and a lot of stitching. My main principles in scrapbooking are
professionalism, quality and accuracy.

Please welcome Design Team Expert Lowri today to the blog as she shares tips and tricks for creating your own Mini Album featuring the "This & That Christmas" collection.
Hi Everyone! Lowri here today to show you a Mini Album I created with the This and That Christmas Collection. I have also included a step-by-step tutorial showing to create the album.
This collection has such a variety of
prints and embellishments, it is easy to put together small papercraft pieces
such as this album. You can see the details of the construction below, but for
the front I have used a few stickers and pieces from the Chipboard
and Layered Chipboard
packs; as well as threading a piece of elastic through the “Remember This
Christmas Forever” piece to tie it all together. This slides easily over the
top of the album
This album is created from cardstock or paper and makes a great, economical alternative to buying one. The main face on each page is a 4” x 3” card, all cut from one piece of the Journaling Cards paper. You can see some more detailed shots below – but in most cases I simply added one extra sticker and left plenty of space for little photos, journaling etc.
Mini Album Tutorial
Note: you can add as many pages as you
like to this album by repeating the technique described below. To make the
number of pages in this album as shown, you will need to start with 5 pieces
of paper. In order to have the album open as an accordion with the cover on an
outer page, you will always need to use an odd number of pages.
You can adjust these measurements to create an album any size you like. Just cut the covers approximately ½” longer and wider than your pages to create a border.
Using the journaling cards means that
minimal extra decoration is needed.
