In our house, reading is never a chore. An avid reader and former librarian and
bookstore manager myself, I am seldom seen without a book (or my Kindle) in my
hands. I’m blessed to have three
wonderful children who are following in my footsteps! My oldest child, Jonathan, loves science
fiction. My oldest daughter, Brigid, has
just discovered dystopian fiction, and my youngest daughter Aileen loves
fantasy adventure like the Ranger’s Apprentice series by John Flanagan. We have spent the summer vacation months
happily consuming book after book.
When
I received the "Paper & Glue" collection, I knew that I wanted to create a
piece to celebrate our love of books!
This miniature bookshelf contains three faux “books” created from scraps
of chipboard and covered with patterned paper, and one removeable chipboard
mini album. The schoolhouse and owl
stickers are backed with cardstock to make them sturdy and glued to miniature
spools to hold them upright. The whole
piece went together in a snap, and I love the way it turned out.
Supplies needed:
* One small wooden bookshelf (I found mine on clearance at a craft store, it is approximately 8 inches wide).
* Echo Park Paper’s “Paper & Glue” collection kit.
* Blue acrylic paint
* Chipboard scraps
* Small chipboard book
The "Paper & Glue" collection is perfect for decorating composition books, altering school binders, creating book covers, and so much more. As your kids (or you) head back to school, think of ways you can make the school experience more special.
