Hello, friends! It’s Tania here. Today, I’d like to show you how I’ve used one of the Echo Park Paper Silhouette shapes, along with a block of text created in the Silhouette software, to make a simple piece of cutwork become a prominent part of your next layout.
1. To get started, open your Silhouette software and insert the Echo Park Paper ‘You & Me’ shape (Silhouette Design ID #24263) onto your canvas in the upper right corner and resize to 3.325” wide x 2.280” tall. Next, use the text tool to insert a text box for typing out your quote or phrase. I’ve used the Bebas font, 53.3 point size and resized by text box to measure 4.290” wide x 8.460” tall. Position the Yellow Navy Cardstock on your cutting mat and send your design to the Silhouette to cut. Note: If you don’t have BEBAS font installed, you can download it for free at dafont.com.
2. After cutting, trim Yellow Navy cardstock down to 8 ½” x 11”. Cut various patterned papers to approximately 1” x 6” to adhere to the back side of the Yellow Navy Silhouette cut to add some design interest behind the cut words. The papers I’ve used to color my design from top to bottom: Terrific Triangles, white cardstock, Terrific Triangles, Flitter Flutter, nothing behind ‘and’, green cardstock, white cardstock, Border Strip, Flitter Flutter, green cardstock, white cardstock.
3. Adhere the Silhouette cut to the navy side of Yellow Navy cardstock approximately 1” from the right edge. Cut three strips of Pretty Pinwheels measuring ¾” x 11”. Adhere them vertically to the left of the cutwork with ¼” spacing between them. Add machine stitching down the length of the right edge of these three strips.
4. Finish off the layout with a square photo and embellish with clouds cut from Rainy Day along with stickers from both the Elements Sticker sheet and Alphabet Stickers sheet.
