Hello, sweet friends! It’s Tania here with you today to share with you a way to play up the Camera & Happy Designer Die sets using a mix of patterned papers from the Capture Life collection, cork paper, stickers and decorative brads for some custom elements on your paper crafting projects.
You can use Echo park Designer Dies in most manual die cutting systems—some systems may require an adapter set of plates for the proper sandwich.

I love using the 6x6 Paper Pad for this type of small die-cutting because the prints are smaller versions of the 12x12 patterned papers. The smaller scale print just looks better with the smaller die-cut shapes, in my opinion.

Once you cut your shapes, you’ll notice that the outline of the shape falls out immediately and most all of the tiny pieces that make up the details of the cut image stay with the die. I love this because then I don’t have to go hunting for all those little pieces all over my workspace or floor. So, you might be wondering ‘how do I get them out?’

It is really quite simple and all you’ll need is a pin/needle. Just turn the die over and you’ll see several little pinpoint-sized holes. If you gently poke a pin through them it will release the paper that has remained in the recesses of the die.

Now, repeat that process several times with several different patterns from the Capture Life 6x6 Paper Pad, and also give it a try using vellum, glitter paper, or even cork! The shapes within this die are all symmetrical, so the fun part about using double-sided paper is that you have double the options since the symmetry makes the reverse side of the image exactly the same.

All that’s left to do is rebuild the images by mixing and matching pieces. All you puzzle-lovers out there will enjoy this part!

As you can see on my layout, I used stickers from the Alphabet Stickers sheet and Element Stickers sheet to embellish the space below the camera lens. You can adhere them directly or add even more dimension to your project by adhering with foam dimensional adhesive. In addition to stickers, try replacing pieces by using brads or rhinestones for a little extra wow factor.

Here you can see a close-up of another combination of parts and pieces used to reconstruct the die-cut pieces. Super fun, eh?

I hope this idea has inspired you and opened up a whole new world of options for you when crafting with your Designer Dies. Keep in mind that you can use this same concept with any of the Designer Dies out now.
Happy crafting, friends!
