Stamp your own "Lucky In Love" Valentine!

 

Hi everyone! Lisa here with you today to share a Valentine's Day card I made with the new Lucky in Love collection and coordinating Hello Sweetheart 4x6 Designer Stamps. Although I'm not a fan of eating candy conversation hearts, the non-edible versions included in the Hello Sweetheart stamp set were so sweet, I had to use them on my card.

When I started thinking about making this card, I knew I wanted to showcase the stamps in a fun way. I designed a card cut file (you'll find a link to the cut file in the supply list at the end of this post) with circular openings on the front panel so I could place stamped images and other elements inside each of the circles. The finished card is 5 1/2" wide x 4" high. You could also use it in the vertical position so it would be 4" wide x 5 1/2" high, giving you three rows of two circles.

 

Most of the elements on the card are contained within the circles, but to change things up a bit, I layered the "Happy Valentine's Day" banner sticker over the last two circles.

 

Foam adhesive under the banner adds dimension.

 

I stamped the conversation hearts onto white cardstock, using chalk inks to give them a soft look. I then punched them out, using a circle punch smaller than the openings on the front of the card, and inked the edges in the same color as the stamped image. The pink circle is popped up with foam adhesive, the blue one is not.

DIY Valentine Blocks Featuring "Lucky In Love" and Designer Dies!

 

Hello, Echo Park Fans, Holly here sharing DIY Love Blocks made from the Echo Park Paper Lucky in Love kit.  Valentine's decorations are my absolute favorite to make.  I'm totally drawn to the the color combinations of pink, red and teal and the Lucky in Love kit is full of those colors.  

 

 

To make these Love Blocks, I painted four 2 x 2 inch wood blocks with Chalky Finish Paints using a dry brush technique then used the coordinating Lucky in Love, Love Confetti designer die, to cut out the word LOVE with various Lucky in Love patterned papers.

 

I then decoupaged each block with wood grain Lucky in Love squares and adhered the die cut letters on to the front of the blocks. 

 

 

 

The blocks are embellished with Element Stickers and red glitter glue.

 

 

 

This is a super simple DIY Valentine's Project that showcases the versatility of Echo Park Paper's designer dies.

Try this Stamping Technique with our "Hello Sweetheart" Designer Stamps!

Hello, friends!  It’s Tania with you again today to share a really simple little stamping technique that works perfectly with smaller stamps like the conversation heart stamps that are in the Hello Sweetheart Designer Stamp Set. You can give this stamping technique a try with any stamp and the ink of your preference. I recommend you test out the technique a bit on some scrap paper before attempting it on your project just so you get the gist of it. For this card, I’m pairing this stamp set with paper and stickers from the Lucky In Love Collection.

To get started, I’ve cut the following:

1. White cardstock to 7” x 10” and fold in half to form a 5” x 7” card base.

2. Be Mine patterned paper to 1 ½” x 7”.

3. Sweet Hearts patterned paper to 1/2” x 7”.

4. Lovely Circles patterned paper to 1” x 7”.

5. Turquoise Cardstock ¾” x 7”, then create a decorative edge along one side with decorative-edged scissors or a border punch.

Place your card base with the fold to the left. Layer the patterned papers and cardstock from left to right as shown in the photo.

 

Use both conversation heart stamps to stamp randomly in the open space of the front of your card. It looks best if you allow some of the stamped images to run off the edges. I’ve used Blazin’ Red Staz-On Ink and Fuchsia Pink Staz-On Ink to stamp my hearts, but really, your favorite red and/or pink ink will work. 

Stamp some hearts in each color with full-coverage of ink on the stamps. Then, for some of the hearts, ink up your stamp, and then use your finger to wipe off the ink from either the bottom half of the heart or the top half.  Just one simple swipe is all it needs because you still want some of the ink to remain.  If you use too much pressure to swipe you’ll remove too much ink and you won’t get that lovely ombre stamping effect.  Like I mentioned, you’ll want to practice a bit on some scrap paper before attempting it on your final project. If you do make a mistake on your final project, use some creative manipulating to cover your mistake (i.e. stickers, buttons, brads, etc.)

Once you have your stamping complete, fill in a bit of the space with some of the conversation heart stickers from the Element Stickers Sheet.

In the space remaining, stamp the ‘Hello, Sweetheart” sentiment a few times, along with a few stamped arrows, using Jet Black Staz-On Ink.  Add a few turquoise adhesive-backed rhinestones in the mix with your stamped images.

 

Lastly, apply foam dimensional tape to the back of the ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ banner sticker and adhere to the card.

Our "Conversation Hearts" are Perfect for Your Next Layout!

Hi everyone!  It’s Ashley and I’m here to share a layout with you today, using the new Lucky In Love collection.  This is a great collection for all of your Valentine’s layouts, projects and cards, but it can also be used for everyday layouts.  I combined the collection with the Designer Dies, to create an everyday layout, with a Black & White photo of our middle daughter.

 

 

I wanted to create a focal title under my photo, so I layered the Designer Dies, to draw attention to the title of my page.  I cut the Talk Bubble Heart from four different patterned papers and placed them on the background paper in a grid design.  Then I cut the word Love and layered it over the Talk Bubble Hearts and finished my title, with letter stickers from the Alpha Stickers Sheet.

 

 

There are a lot of fun ways to use the Designer Dies that coordinate with the Lucky In Love collection!  The Talk Bubble Hearts would be perfect for hand-made Valentines!

Use our "Lucky in Love" Collection to Create a Sweet Mini Canvas Gift

 

Need a quick and easy idea for a Valentine’s Day gift? Or maybe you’re looking for a small accent piece for your Valentine’s Day display? Try creating a mini canvas using the beautiful Lucky In Love Collection Kit and Designer Dies. 

Mini canvases are an inexpensive and versatile way to create. They make great gifts, are perfect small décor pieces, and are completely customizable—you can go as crazy as you’d like, or you can keep it clean and simple. Either way, it’s the perfect project to experiment on.

For this bitty gift I’m giving my hubby (shhh…don’t tell) I started by cutting some thin border strips from the patterned paper to act as an anchor for the project. I cut “v” shapes in the ends of one strip, allowing it to extend beyond the canvas for a fun effect. Then I die cut some hearts using the Designer Dies and added them to the background. I used the text patterned paper which is a similar color to the canvas to create some texture and interest in the background while still allowing the die cut letters to stand out.

Next, I die cut the “LOVE” letters each in a different patterned paper. I cut the L, V, and E with red paper, and the O with pink paper to make it stand out since it houses my tiny photo. I printed my photo in black and white 1” square in size, which fits perfectly behind the opening in the center of the letter O.

After adding my letters, I embellished the project with some jute twine, a mini clothespin, and a few tiny die cut confetti hearts. Then I placed the canvas on a mini easel, which you can purchase at your local craft store. I can’t wait to see my hubby’s face when he opens this--it’ll fit perfectly on his desk!

How to Make a Statement with Our Designer Dies!

 

Hello, friends!  It’s Tania with you again today to share a quick little tutorial showing you how to make a strong visual statement with your Love Confetti Designer Die.  The die is a perfect complement to the Lucky In Love Collection, but you can adapt this technique using any of the Echo Park Paper Collections…..there’s certainly plenty of them to choose from!

 

 

To get started, I’ve taken the pre-designed ‘LOVE’ banner pieces directly from the Element Stickers Sheet and applied them to the upper portion of the Pink Hearts Patterned Paper. The placement of the ends of the banner “string” should be approximate 1 ½” to 1 ¾” from the top edge of the patterned paper. I added an additional grey-colored ‘love’ banner, taken from the Alpha Stickers Sheet, to the left-hand side of the banner by adjusting the spacing slightly. To allow your banner pieces to look like they are blowing in the wind, you’ll want to apply a light dusting of cornstarch or baby powder to sticky portion of the sticker. Be sure to only apply near the bottom edge so the top portion will still stick to your layout. If starch or powder is considered too messy in your book, then simply use foam dimensional tape behind them to give them a bit of dimension.

 

 

Next, you’ll want to use your manual die-cutting system along with your Love Confetti Designer Die to cut out the word ‘LOVE’ from three coordinating patterned papers. The three papers I used are: Love This Patterned Paper (Lucky In Love Collection), Be Mine Patterned Paper (Lucky In Love Collection) and the Chalkboard Solid Cardstock (Christmas Cheer Collection).  Adhere one set above the LOVE sticker banner and the other two in the space along the bottom center of the layout. Be sure to leave space in between for whatever size photo you are using.

 

 

Then, mat your photo on white cardstock, leaving a 1/8” to ¼” border, and adhere to your layout.

 

 

Use stickers from the Alpha Stickers Sheet to spell out the word ‘LOVE’ in random places.  You’ll notice I’ve done so 4 times, but there are only 2 ‘V’ stickers on the sheet.  I simply made do and trimmed the ‘W’ stickers down to become a ‘V’. Notice how I created dimension by layering the sticker behind the die-cuts, then photo and allowing them to float off the top of the layout.  Here is where you can add additional stickers from the sticker sheet to embellish, such as the ‘arrow’ stickers and ‘conversation heart’ stickers.

 

 

Next, place your layout on a cork board or a mouse pad, whichever you have handy, and pierce holes around the ‘LOVE’ die-cut word that is directly below your photo. To get evenly-spaced holes, I start by piercing at the corners that each letter has, then at a midpoint between two corners. Then, I fill in the remaining space by piercing holes at evenly-spaced intervals. Don’t stress if the spacing isn’t perfect. Once stitched it won’t even matter. Obviously, for the ‘O’ you can start your piercing anywhere.

 

Here is a visual of how my letters look after the piercing is done.

 

Now, you can start stitching around those letters using an embroidery needle and embroidery floss.  I prefer to use all 6 strands of embroidery floss and use a simple backstitch as my stitch. If you aren’t familiar with a backstitch, watch this short video tutorial. Be sure to choose a color of thread that not only coordinates, but something that is bold that will help your die-cut pop out from the layout background.

 

 

Once the stitching is done, simply use your paper piercing tool to poke through the paper, using the die-cut holes in the letter ‘V’ as a guideline, to allow you to insert gold mini brads to add a bit more flare to your die-cut.

And that’s it!

A super simple way to use the Love Confetti Designer Die to pack a powerful punch on your layout!

DIY Gold Embossed Heart Doilies using our Designer Stamps!

 

Now that the holidays are over and we’ve begun a new year, it’s time to turn our thoughts to a very special holiday that our family loves to celebrate—Valentine’s Day! Among other things, we like to make it a special day for each other by making valentines. Here’s an idea for a handmade valentine using the beautiful Lucky In Love Collection Kit and Designer Stamps. 

I used the Designer Stamps in some fun ways to create texture and to alter some stickers from the collection. First I created an embossed heart doily by covering the doily stamp with some watermark ink, and then stamping the image onto plain white cardstock.

Next I sprinkled some gold embossing powder over the stamped image, making sure to cover the entire image. I carefully poured the excess powder back into the container. Then I used my heat gun to emboss the image. (Be sure to allow the embossed image to cool before handling.) I love the rich texture that the embossed gold heart doily adds to the card!

I wanted to use the darling sentiments in the Designer Stamp set, but I was worried they would get lost on my large 6”x6” card. So I added them to some of the stickers from the collection to draw more attention to them. Since the stickers are made with a nice semi-gloss cardstock, I used a permanent solvent ink to stamp them. (Be sure to allow the ink to dry completely before handling the sticker.) I’m really happy with how the altered stickers turned out!

Once I had finished my stamped elements, I created my card base by spattering some red watercolor paint onto the 6x6 doily heart journaling card. Then I layered some smaller journaling cards and stickers from the collection together with the stamped elements. I finished off the card by adding an enamel arrow shape and some gold sequins.

A Tutorial featuring Designer Dies and Lots of Patterned Papers!

Hi EP fans!  It’s Ashley with you today, and I’m here to share a new Card, using the Lucky In Love collection!  If you are looking for a way to incorporate multiple patterned papers onto your card, then I’ve got a quick tutorial to share with you, showing how I layered patterned paper behind the Love Confetti Die.

Begin by cutting the Love Confetti Die from the Be Mine patterned paper.

 

After running the die through your Die Cut machine, you will need to trim around the edges to have even spacing around your word.

 

Now you can flip your paper over and adhere different patterned papers behind each letter.

 

This technique would also look great repeated on a layout, and would really add a pop of interest to your layout!

How to Use Journaling Cards in Unique Ways!

Hi everyone! Lisa with you today to show you how to incorporate journaling cards into your projects. My layout features the new Lucky in Love collection, but you can easily apply these techniques to any Echo Park collection.

You'll find journaling cards on three of the papers in this collection, so there are plenty to choose from! On my page, I left a couple of them as is and used them whole, I cut elements from some of them (banner and heart doily), I used a circle punch to create an embellishment (aqua heart) and lastly, I cut the inner portion of one out, leaving the border around it intact on the background paper so I can use it as a frame on another project.

To give you an idea of how I used the journaling cards, I've put together a step-by-step tutorial so you can see how it came together.

Instructions:

Lucky in Love contains two each of six double-sided papers. We'll be using both sheets of some of the papers.

1. Use one sheet of the "Love This" paper as the background for this layout.

2. Cut 1/2" off of the right side and 1/2" off of the bottom of one sheet of the "Lovely Circles" paper. Adhere this paper, with the heart pattern facing up, to the "Love This" paper, leaving a 1/2" border on all sides.

3. Cut 1 1/2" off of the right side and 1 1/2" off of the bottom of the "Sweet Hearts" paper. Adhere this paper, with the polka dot pattern facing up, to the "Lovely Circles" paper, leaving a 1/4" border on all sides.

4. Machine stitch a straight border around all sides of the polka dot paper, 1/8" in from the edge.

Now let's do a bit of prep work and get some journaling cards ready before putting the rest of the page together.

5. Cut the gold striped journaling card from the "B" side of the second sheet of the "Love This" paper.

6. Cut the "Love" bingo card and "Hello sweetheart" banner from the "Journaling Cards" paper. Use a circle punch to punch the aqua heart out of the oval journaling card.

7. Cut the chevron circle, "XOXOXO" journaling card (trimming along the white edge of the card) and the large red heart "doily" from the "Be Mine" paper.

With the journaling cards prepped and ready, we can start assembling the rest of the layout.

8. Cut a 5" wide x 8 3/4" high piece from the second sheet of the "Lovely Circles" paper. Adhere this piece 1 1/8" in from the left edge of the "Love This" paper and 1 5/8" up from the bottom edge.

9. Adhere the "XOXOXO" journaling card over the "Lovely Circles" paper, placing it 2 1/2" from the left edge of the "Love This" paper and 1 3/8" from the top edge.

10. Layer an aqua polka dot doily over the "XOXOXO" journaling card and "Lovely Circles" paper.

11. Mat a 4" wide x 6" high photo on turquoise cardstock. Adhere the photo over the doily, placing it 2 1/2" in from the left edge of the "Love This" paper and 2 3/8" up from the bottom edge. Before adhering the left side of the photo, tuck a bitty bag under the photo (this will later hold a journaling tag). Finish adhering the photo to the page.

12. Embellish the top and bottom areas of the photo as shown.

13. Adhere the "Notes" tag from the Element Stickers sheet to the polka dot paper, placing it 1 3/8" from the top edge of the "Love This" paper and 2 5/8" from the right edge.

14. Adhere the gold striped journaling card over the "Notes" tag.

15. Layer the red heart doily over the "Notes" tag and gold striped journaling card.

16. Place the chevron circle over the red heart doily.

17. Adhere the "Love" bingo card flush against the right side of the photo, 3" from the bottom edge of the "Love This" paper, aligned with the second dotted line on the chevron circle. Before adhering the bottom right corner of the bingo card, tuck the bingo card sticker from the Element Stickers sheet under the left edge. Stitch a red button over the "O" in "Love" using white embroidery floss.

18. Layer the "Hello sweetheart" banner over the bingo journaling card.

19. Add remaining embellishments (stickers, buttons, and enamel dots) as shown.

20. Print your journaling on a white shipping tag. Ink and embellish with red ribbon. Slide the tag into the bitty bag behind the photo.

Digital Layout featuring "Lucky In Love!"

Hello! Rachael here, with a digital layout using Echo Park’s gorgeous Lucky in Love kit, available here.

I wanted to use this kit to capture a rare photo of me and my husband together. My sister snapped this picture of us when we went out for dinner, and I love the unscripted, cameo feel of this photo. The photo colors did not work well with the kit, so I converted the photo to black and white. This is my go-to method for making any photo usable with any kit.

After converting the photo, I selected my background papers. I am in love with the blue ombre paper, and can think of so many uses for this! Luckily, digital papers can be reused any number of times…one of the great perks of digital scrapbooking.

After getting my background papers in place and adding my photo, I started selecting the elements I wanted to use in my grid (stitching by Anna Aspnes). Another thing I love about this kit is the glitter elements! The gold glitter is so on trend, and I can’t get enough of it! So of course, I had to use as many as I could in this layout.

Last, I added a little bit of journaling and the date, and that was it! Another fun layout in the books. J
