Make a "Sunny Days Ahead" Spring Mini Album

Love singing in the rain or splashing in puddles?  Make a cute mini album that captures all of those rainy spring memories with the “Sunny Days Ahead” Collection!

I started with a tabbed chipboard album that I had on hand and used Carta Bella’s Kraft Paper for the base pages.  I cut smaller mats from various “Sunny Days Ahead” papers and machine stitched them in place before adhering to the chipboard. 

On the front cover I used a round punch and a piece from the 6X6 paper pad to make the journal card’s sun 3-D; just adhere with foam adhesive and you have a really fun look.

 

If you’re giving your album as a gift, print off a few related photos (I found mine on the internet by searching for “vintage rain photos”) and add them to the pages with repositionable adhesive.  This is a good way to show placement ideas to the recipient.

Next, the “Spring” sentiment was die-cut from the  “Spring Flowers Die”.  I wanted the letters to follow the contour of the sun shape, so I snipped the letters apart and then affixed them to the image.

 

The small number stickers from the Element Sticker Sheet are the perfect bullet points for the journal card…add a list of your favorite spring activities.

 

 

Again, I used a round die to change the shape of the “sunny days ahead” journal card, which made it a better fit for the small page.

 

 

Dress up the stickers with dimension by adding enamel dots and brads!

Make a Burlap Bunny Bag with our "Happy Easter" Collection!

Hi Echo Park paper Fans!  Holly here with you today sharing a Burlap Easter Bunny Bag made with the Happy Easter Kit and the coordinating Designer Dies.

 

Something about Easter projects and burlap that just goes together.  I've always been a big fan of pastels and burlap, add in cute lil' cotton tailed bunny, I'm done. 

 

 

 

I found the burlap bag in the Target One Spot.  I picked up a few of them 'cause if you shop the One Spot often, you'll go back for more and they're gone.  Been there, done that, lesson learned.   To embellish the burlap bag, I used the coordinating Happy Easter- Easter Bunny Die to cut out the bunnies then used mod Podge to adhere them on to the bag.  

 

 

I added small white puff balls as bunny tails and embellished the bag with a paper flower Decorative brad.  

 

 

 

This Burlap Easter Bag is a simple, inexpensive and totally cute project made with the Happy Easter collection perfect to collect all those Easter Eggs in.

Framed Easter Decor Featuring "Sunny Days Ahead" and Silhouette Shapes

 

 

I saw this egg with the heart center and just HAD to turn it into a home decor piece for Easter! Courtney Lee here with a project that is really quick and easy!

 

I sized the egg and heart on my Silhouette for a 5x7 photo frame insert. The egg was 4.248” wide after I sized it. I cut it out of the Carta Bella cardstock and then trimmed it to a 5x7 piece with the egg centered. So before you cut it make sure that the egg is not top left of your mat so that you have enough room to center it afterwards. Cut out the heart out of the Orange/Pink cardstock.

 

I then cut a bunch of .5” strips from the 6x6 paper pad to go behind the egg cut out. I added adhesive and laid them down.

Use a White Gel Pen to faux stitch around the edge of the heart and use alphas to write “Easter” on it. Pop it with foam dimensional tape and pop it in your frame!

Now you have a super cute framed piece for Easter that took less than an hour start to finish! It also makes a great kid’s project - for them to help lay down the strips. My 2.5 year old was enthusiastic about helping!

Create Your Own Dinosaur Embellishments!

Grab those fine point scissors and let’s fussy-cut some fun cards into action using the Dinosaur Adventure Collection!  For both cards I have used a 5”X7” card base.

  

Start with your favorite journal card and a sheet of the “Dinosaur Safari” paper.  With a pair of fine point scissors, cut out as many of the dinosaurs as you’d like. 

 

 

For each of the dinos that I cut, I prepared a small background mat by die-cutting the base of the Dimensional Diamond from one of the woodgrain papers found in the Dots & Stripes Neutrals paper pad.  The small hearts were cut by trimming down the “footprint” into a heart shape and then attaching them and embellishing with an enamel dot.

 

 

For the “So Dino-Mite” card, the dinosaur and journal circle were hand-cut apart from the journal card; just use the outer border as a guide.  Next, a 2.5” circle punch was used to die-cut the around the “dino-mite” sentiment card. 

 

 

The edges of the dinosaur’s stripes were embellishment with a small enamel dot and a fabric bow.  Two of the banner stickers completed the sentiment.

How to Add Paper Weaving to a Project

 

As a mother of twin boys I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to see all the adorable masculine collections that Echo Park debuted at CHA last month. The Dinosaur Adventure Mini-Theme is no exception! What little boy is not obsessed at some point in his life with dinosaurs? This collection is perfect for any crafter that has boys in her life.

To create this card I trimmed a 5 ½” x 4 ¼” piece of dinosaur footprint paper for my card background. I adhered it to a plain white cardstock card that opens at the bottom. Then, I created some layers by trimming a 5” x 3 ¾” piece of brown polka paper, and a 4 ¾” x 3 ½” piece of orange striped paper.

I wanted to include some paper weaving in my card border so I pulled out my metal ruler and craft knife. I created ½” vertical weaving slits in my card layers alternating every ¾” and ¼” along the bottom, using my metal ruler to keep my craft knife moving in a straight line. Be sure to press hard enough to cut through both card layers.

Then I trimmed a 3/8” x 5 ½” border and weaved in through the slits in the card layers. I trimmed the ends of the border into banners by cutting a “v” shape in each one. In order to accommodate the bulk on the back of the card layers that the weaving caused, I added foam squares to the back before adhering them to my card background.

I added a border sticker, a sentiment sticker, and some darling dino stickers. Most I adhered with foam squares to add dimension to the card. I also included some enamel dots and twine to finish off my design. This card will be perfect for the birthday party of my 5 year old daughter’s little friend!

Dino-Mite Cards with our Dinosaur Adventure Collection!

Pair up the new “Dinosaur Adventure” Mini Theme with your favorite dinos from the Dinosaurs Silhouette cutting file and a selection of basic Echo Park Designer Dies to create a set of playful cards that any boy would love to receive.

For the first card we are using the cone portion of the Ice Cream Cone Die Set to make an interesting background.  The image was die-cut twice from two different pattern papers found in the Mini Theme. 

 
A base paper was cut to 3 3/8”W X 4 5/8”H; this was the width and height of the four cones when they were placed edge to edge.  The cones were attached to the base paper and then machine stitched in place. 

 

The T-Rex dinosaur was added with foam adhesive and finished off with a couple of stickers from the mini collection, as well as enamel dots.  The brown and green mats were cut from the Bundle of Joy Boy 6X6 Paper Pad.

 

The second card also uses one of the dinosaur shapes from the Silhouette file, but I have cut it twice, from two different patterns.  I layered the two together by offsetting the top layer just up and to the right of the bottom piece.  I used foam adhesive to adhere them together.  The bottom layer adds a really cool 3-D effect.

 

Using the larger of the Designer Label Dies, I die cut a small landing for the dinosaur shape and added it to the card-front.

The palm tree sticker was placed to the right side of the label with foam adhesive and the dinosaur layered on top.  From the “dinosaur” banner stickers, I used the “U” and “R” to create part of the card’s sentiment.
