How to Make a S’mores Window Treat Box

 

S’mores are one of our family favorites! Whether we’re camping, hanging out in the backyard, or snuggling by the fire on a cold winter’s night, we love to roast marshmallows and make s’mores. So, I thought it would be fun to put together a S’mores Window Treat Box for our next family s’more night!

This fun window box is easy to make using patterned paper and coordinating Designer Dies from Echo Park’s new The Wild Life collection. Start by cutting out a box—any shape will do as long as there’s enough room on one side to fit the tree dies from the Into The Woods Die Set.

Place the dies on the paper where you’d like to create your window, and run the mat through your manual die cutting tool. Then trim a piece of clear acetate and adhere it to the back of the die cut window.

Assemble your box, and then embellish it as desired. I layered some tree stickers between the die cut window trees, added some wood veneer stars and some border strips. I finished it off with a sentiment sticker at the top.

Once your box is decorated, fill it with some graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate and bring it along to your marshmallow roast.

This fun treat box also makes a great gift for friends, neighbors, kids, or grandkids who are going off to summer camp.

Create Unique Shaped Cards with "The Wild Life" and Silhouette

Hey Echo Park Fans,  do you have any Outdoor Adventures planned this Summer?  Holly here today from Ribbons & Glue sharing with you Outdoor Cards made from the Echo Park Paper The Wild Life kit and Silhouette cut files. 

We actually just got back from a long road trip and I don't mean just a week long road trip either.  More like a 8.5 K mile cross country road trip!  Yep, you read the miles correctly.  8500 miles and it was quite an adventure too which was my inspiration behind my Outdoor Adventure cards.

 

To make the Van card, I  chose Echo Park's Van down by the river  cut file then used the offset function in the Silhouette software to create a base for the cut file.  After offsetting the cut file, I duplicated the offset so I'd  have two bases to make in to a card. You could also weld the two bases together to make in to a card but I chose to cut them out twice and adhered them together at the top.    After the layers of the die cuts were assembled together, I stamped a sentiment on to  the Van card chosen from The Wild Life Designer Stamps.

 

 

I provide the Van Card a little more outdoor character, I adhered a paper strip down the middle, wrapped the card with twine and used a few Echo Park Enamel Dots in the wheels and  lights.  

 

The other Outdoor Card,  is matted it with The Wild Life patterned paper and embellished with  Element Sticker Accents and twine.  Look for more unique Silhouette Shapes from Echo Park Paper in the Silhouette Store that can be turned into creative shaped cards.

Create an Outdoor Adventure Card Set with "The Wild Life" Collection!

 

Hello! Courtney here today and I am sharing an outdoor adventure card set created with The Wild Life Collection. So that the cards would have a similar theme I used the ‘Adventure’ sentiment stamp from the Adventure Time 4x6 Stamp Set for both and featured a canoe element on each card.

 

The background for the first card was created with two 4” x 6” journaling cards from the Journaling Cards patterned paper. Cut each journaling card into three pieces, as shown above, and pull out just the middle block/strip. Round the top right corner of the ‘Travel Notes’ block.

 

Adhere the block and strip to the card base and zig zag stitch where they meet. Stamp the ‘Adventure’ sentiment with black stamping ink.

 

 

Pull out the bunny die from the Wild Life Die Set and the dies in the Wild Life Die Set. Die cut all of the pieces from patterned paper and assemble. Don’t forget the bunny’s little tail, and add a little black eye with a pearl, rhinestone or enamel dot.

 

 

Using the ‘Fresh Air’ 4” x 6” journaling card from the Journaling Cards patterned paper trim a strip off of the top. Stamp just the bottom of the canoe from the Happy Campers Die and Stamp Set with orange stamping ink.

 

 

On the card base stamp the canoe in orange and the sun in yellow. Then lay the strip from the previous step along the bottom of the card matching up the stamped canoe images. Stamping the entire canoe on the card base and just the bottom on the strip of patterned paper ensures that there is not a thin white strip through the canoe, along the top of the paper strip, where the stamp did not touch the card base.

 

 

Cut a strip from the Wildlife patterned paper and machine stitch along the bottom of the card. Die cut the trees from the backside of the Forest Flora patterned paper and adhere to the card. Lastly, stamp the ‘Adventure’ sentiment along the top of the card.

3 Ways to Add Dimension to Handmade Die Cuts

 

I love using handmade die cuts on my scrapbook pages and other paper craft projects. But I also love dimension on my projects, so I’ve come up with a few tricks for adding dimension to handmade die cuts. You can see them in the layout above I created using the awesome new Pirate’s Life collection!

The first trick for adding dimension to a die cut is using foam squares to pop up selected parts of the image.

I adhered the eye and wing of this adorable Parrot Set Die with foam squares. Using tweezers really helps when picking up and adhering small die cut pieces.

The next tip for adding dimension to die cuts is stacking several die cuts one on top of the other like I did with the Pirate Octopus Die on my layout.

I cut 15 octopus bodies and used a glue stick to adhere them together to avoid extra bulk. You can stack anywhere from 10-15 die cuts, depending on your desired thickness. This is great way to use up small paper scraps that would normally be thrown out.

The final way to add dimension to die cuts is dry embossing. I used the Layered Scallops Embossing Folder on the sails of the pirate ship to give them some more texture and dimension.

To finish off my page, I added some paper strips behind my photo, a long title made from alpha stickers, and some wood veneer stars.

The next time you use handmade die cuts, try one of these easy techniques to add some fun dimension to your project!

Create a Pirate-Themed Message in a Bottle!

 

Hello! Courtney here today and I am sharing a home decor project I created with the Pirate’s Life Collection and a few basic craft supplies. I’ve been wanting to create a ‘message in a bottle’ themed project with this glass bottle and the Designer Stamps and Dies along with the Pirate’s Life Collection were the perfect fit.

 

 

To create the message I first cut the X Marks The Spot Silhouette Shape with my Silhouette Die Cut Machine. I resized the file to about 2.6” x 2” so that the stamped message would fit nicely. After stamping the message with a stamp from the Ahoy Mateys 4x6 Stamp Set I distressed the die cut with a bit of ink to give it a nice worn and aged look.

 

 

To add a bit of interest to the outside of the bottle I stamped and heat embossed the ship wheel from the Ahoy Mateys 4x6 Stamp Set onto patterned paper. Then I fussy cut it and attached it to the twine with a couple of jump rings.

 

 

The little scene in the front of the bottle was created with a few of skull die cuts from the  Walk the Plank Die Set  and a palm tree die cut from the Sail Away Die Set. When arranging the die cut pieces in the sand my long craft tweezers came in handy.

Ahoy Matey! Make These "Pirate's Life" Cards Today!

Whether you're needing a fun boy themed card or an invitation to sail away, the "Pirate's Life" Collection can be used for any card-making occasion.  Today I'm going to share a couple of ideas using the collection's designer stamps and dies.

For the first 5x7 card, I have used the whale die to create a cute background of repeat images.  I die-cut the image four times from one of the 6X6 papers, turning the paper over for the last two cuts. 

The whale pieces were attached with foam adhesive and embellished with black pearls for the eyes.  The parrot and sentiment stickers were added with foam adhesive.  Really quick and easy!

The second card focuses on the stamps.  I first stamped the image in black onto a white background paper and then used an oval die (from my stash) to cut the piece out.  I inked around the edges with Aegean Blue Versa Magic ink. 

Next, I stamped the image again in red and in brown.  I trimmed out the red hat and brown beard and attached them over the matching black-stamped image with foam adhesive.  It's a really easy way to change up the color of an image, while adding dimension at the same time!
