Hi there EP fans! Aly Dosdall from the design team here today. I love the new The Wild Life collection with all the adorable critters and earthy colors. It’s the perfect kit for camping and outdoor recreation. But it’s also versatile enough that you can use it for just about any occasion. And that’s just what I did!
I fell in love with the Leaf Silhouette Cut File from this collection and wanted to make it the focal point of a card. I also wanted to mix and match some of the nice earthy patterns and colors in The Wild Life collection, so I cut the same size leaf with my Cameo four times on different papers. Once I started putting the different color pieces of the leaf together I realized I could easily make a set of cards with the leftovers.
I used the Watercolors Flowers 4x6 Designer Stamp Set to add some all occasion sentiments to my cards. Using dark brown ink on the light paper helps them to stand out. Stamping tip: Whenever I’m stamping directly onto a card surface I use washi tape to hold it steady so the card doesn’t move while I’m stamping.
Since I really wanted the leaf to be the focus of the cards, I kept the rest of the design simple so that the beautiful leaf stands out.
Since there are so many little pieces to this cut file I used an easy trick to place them just right on my cards. After I cut out the leaves with my Cameo, I used my scissors to cut out the negative space leftover from the leaf and used it as a guide for placing all my pieces. I adhered the leaf template to my card surface with repositionable adhesive to keep it in place, and then it was easy to remove once I finished placing all the pieces inside the leaf template on my card.
