Hello! Shellye here today with a purse-shaped mini album that captures the “Petticoats” Collection just perfectly! I purchased a set of the premade purse chipboard shapes from Michaels and used two of the pieces to create the front and back covers.
The purse chipboard shape was traced onto the Sunny Damask and Adorable Damask paper and then cut out. The front and back covers were dressed with the papers and then edged with pink/white baker’s twine to give it a clean look. To the front, I used several of the chipboard pieces and stickers from the collection, as well as a scalloped mat that I made using the Scallop Circle Set and papers from the 6X6 Paper Pad.
To create the inner pages I first made an accordion strip from the Sweet Banners paper. I cut the strip to measure 6”W X 8”H. The strip was placed onto a scoreboard, lengthwise, and scored at every one inch and then folded.
For the actual page, I used a spare piece of the purse chipboard shape and traced around it, omitting the handle. The template was placed onto various pieces of patterned paper and traced. After the initial tracing, the template was flipped up to mirror the first tracing and then traced again. The shape was cut out and then scored along the line where the two tracings met. The front bottom edge of the page was attached to the front of one accordion fold and the back bottom edge was attached to the back of the same accordion fold as shown in the photo above.
I decided to make this a flip-up style album. You may decide to turn the design vertically so that the pages open in a traditional fashion.
Various cards from the 3X4 Journaling Cards were used as photo mats or for journaling.
Border strip stickers and washi tapes added a cute design and splash of color to the different pages! In finishing, the pages were embellished with Enamel Dots, Ephemera, Chipboard Pieces and stickers.
In finishing, a length of rose-colored satin ribbon was tied onto the left side of the back handle and the looped around to the front handle and tied into a bow. Looks so pretty sitting on a shelf or hanging from a cabinet’s knob! Any aged girl would love receiving it as a gift too!
