Boys Rule! "Best Friends" Card

Hello everyone! Kimberly here with a great boy card. I have a ten-year-old boy, so cards can be tough to not only create, but having them be “boy” enough is a struggle. When my son saw this card, he said, “cool!” The Boy Cousins Mini Theme collection from Echo Park Paper is the best for not only card making, but memory keeping as well!

After cutting the sports ball journaling card from the patterned paper, I layered it on the green dotted paper, Letters and Numbers.

I knew I needed a sentiment, so once I again, I went to the versatile journaling cards. Instead of leaving the words all as one piece, I trimmed away the “best friends” line. Notching the ends with my scissors gave me a custom faux sticker!

Before adhering my sentiment to the card, I grabbed a star sticker from the Boy Cousin 6x13 Sticker Sheet. Mounting the star and sentiment with foam tape, really added some nice dimension.

Speaking of stickers, I did add two more stickers to the bottom of the card. I am pretty sure that my son thought these two lines were the best. Because, boys rule, naturally.  :D

Be Brave & Create a "Girl Cousins" Layout

There is something about cousins that is just special. My daughters and their cousins have formed deep friendships with their cousins that I know will last a lifetime and those bonds are definitely something that deserve a spot in our family scrapbooks.

 

 

I am in love with the delicious felt texture of the Carta Bella Ultra White Felt Designer Cardstock. It was a natural choice when choosing a background for this page. I began by sprinkling a few drops of light gray mist around the page.

 

 

The stickers in this mini collection have my heart and are perfect for these two girls' wild personalities. They are always concocting some kind of an adventure to have together!

 

 

I mean, how cute is that tent? The feather? The arrows?! I'm loving it all! I added a little dimension to the arrows and feather grouping by wrapping a length of twine around them and then tying it in a knot or a bow.

 

 

I especially love that I had title letter stickers built right in on the Girl Cousin Sticker Sheet. I adhered them to a scrap of the Ultra White Felt Designer Carstock and them trimmed around them with scissors, leaving a small offset edge.

 

 

I created journaling strips for the bottom of the page with a few thoughts about these two cute girls. I accented the journal strips with a couple more heart stickers. I love the way it looks!

Summer Camp Treat Bags

Hey Echo Park Paper fans, Becki here. I'm SO excited to share this set of 3 treat bags with you that I created with the Summer Camp collection. It's been years since I've been to a Summer camp. Actually, I will be sending my own daughter to summer camp next summer. She's so excited, I get a little teary eyed thinking about it. While I was creating these Summer Camp treat bags I couldn't help but think about what a fun addition these treat bags would make to a kids camping backpack.

 

These bags were SO easy to make. I had all three of them created in less than 45 minutes. I cut the shape of the bag out with my Silhouette cameo. I used the 3x4 journaling cards to create the tags. My favorite bag is the one that has the fish and the fishing pole. I created the fishing pole with a toothpick and a bit of string. It was the easiest embellishment but it made a big impact on this bag.

The Smore/campfire bag was a piece of cake to create. I just put stickers on the 3x4 card. Nothing fancy at all, simple and adorable.

The "call of the wild" treat bag is the same thing, just stickers and a 3x4 card.

These really are SO easy to create! I can't wait to sneak these treat bags in my kids backpacks when we go on our next outdoor adventure. What do you think I should put in each bag? A treat? Sunscreen? Bug Spray? I'm guessing my kids would love a treat the most.

"Summer Camp" Journal Card Album

Hello!  Shellye here today with a “Summer Camp” Mini Album featuring the journal card paper from the Mini Collection! 

I started by cutting out all of the different cards from the Journaling Card Paper; I did leave a couple of the side-by-side 3X4 cards together so they’d form a single 4X6 card. 

Next, I cut base pages from Carta Bella’s 12X12 Kraft Paper to measure ½” larger than the journal cards.  The cards were corner rounded where desired and then adhered to the center of the kraft paper.  To make the pages even sturdier, the pages were matched up front-to-back and glued into place.

I used tree stickers from the collection to highlight the row of trees on the cover.  I also used a Layered Sun Sticker from Happy Summer and embellished it with yellow enamel dots.  Simple but fun!

I also used patterned paper to create mats for some of the 4X6 pages.  On page two, I even used a strip of leftover paper to make a border before adding the photo and sticker.

Using the smaller, 3X4 cards in between the larger pages added color and fun!

Next you can see that I used a ruler and blue fine-point Sharpie to add journaling lines to the one card.  Small enamel dots were added as bullet points to each line.

Extra dimension was added by giving a lift to word stickers with foam tape.  You can also include alphabet stickers from other collections, or use a set of dies such as the Block Alphabet Die Set as I have used.

Above is an example of a page using two of the 3X4 cards together.  On the final page, I once again added a Layered Sticker from the Happy Summer Collection to the cute cluster of trees!

When preparing my pages, I sorted the cards by size and color; I love that when you turn each of the pages you will encounter all of the colors represented in this fun Mini Collection.  Give it a try…your little camper will love documenting their Summer Camp memories in their own mini album!

Enjoy the Dog Days of Summer!

Hello! Tegan here with a fun layout just in time for summer! The Happy Summer collection is great for documenting all kinds of summer activities from picnics to just enjoying the nice weather! And the images in this collection are just adorable. When I saw the cute little dog sticker, I knew I just had to use it on a layout!

The bird on the branch chipboard piece is so sweet and a perfect little accent piece for the top corner of my page. The Summer Adventures stamp set is a must-have as well. It includes super cute images and phrases like the one I used here. 

Embroidery floss is one of my favorite accents to add to layouts. Here I wrapped matching embroidery floss around the cloud stickers to give them a little dimension. And the adorable kite is from the Summer Adventures stamp set as well! I used the Carta Bella Natural White cardstock as my background paper and my stamped image looks beautiful on it!

This card that I trimmed from the Journaling Card patterned paper has the perfect phrase on it for this layout. I accented it with a couple enamel dots and a chipboard flower. I also wrapped the layered floral sticker with embroidery floss and added an enamel dot to it. I think these accents add a fun touch!

I just couldn’t resist using “The Dog Days of Summer” for my title! I used a combination of alphabet stickers, dog sticker, and word sticker (summer). For the exclamation point, I used the letter “I” for the top and the little heart sticker for the bottom.

DIY "Island Paradise" Ukulele Gift Box

My family and I are headed off to Hawaii in a couple of days, and I wanted to give my kids a little something to get them excited for our trip. I created this fun Ukelele gift box with the Island Paradise mini collection filled with fish shaped candies.

 

I created the box using cardstock. Once the box was assembled I added patterned paper to give it some island flair. I think the Fun in the Sun paper was perfect for this! Even the stripes of the Aloha paper created the perfect frets for the neck of the ukelele.

The flower and "Aloha!" sentiment were cut from the Journaling Card paper. A few jewels add a bit of sparkle.

 

I layered together a few stickers and patterned papers for a quick enclosure card.

The top lifts off to reveal the colorful treat! Yum!

Feature a Die-Cut Pineapple on Your Next Handmade Card!

Hello everyone! Kimberly here with a bright and fun card using the new mini theme from Echo Park Paper called, Island Paradise! I paired those papers up with the fantastic Designer Die Pineapple Die Set! I am obsessed with pineapples and check out how fantastic this die set is!

Designer Die Pineapple Die Set has three pieces. The first piece is the top. The second is the base. And the third die is the coolest, it creates that fabulous texture! Everything fits together perfectly and you can customize your pineapple to any color! I chose my colors based on the scheme of Island Paradise.

The tropical feel of Island Paradise makes me ready to head back to the beach, a beach on one of the Hawaiian Islands! After adhering the Fun in the Sun patterned paper to my card base, I layered a journaling card on top. Using journaling cards in my card making is one of my favorite tricks! The card already had a sentiment printed upon it and it gave me the perfect space to set my pineapple. I simply trimmed it to size. Then I added a few stickers, that are included in the Island Paradise mini theme. To finish it off I added Happy Summer Enamel Dots. I love how the products from other Echo Paper Paper collections work together!
