Hello everyone! Kimberly here with a fun technique for your patterned paper and stencils!
This technique adds texture and shine, which is perfect for all cards this time of year!
I trimmed a piece of mint patterned paper from the Echo Park Deck the Halls Solid Paper Pack to standard card size. Then I placed Frosted Snowflake Stencil over the top. To keep the stencil in place while applying ink, I used small pieces of washi on each edge. Then I pressed watermark ink through the openings using a foam pad. A small tool or cosmetic sponge will help the ink get through the beautiful detail of the stencil.
Then I lifted the stencil and poured clear embossing powder over the entire surface. I tapped the excess powder off the mint paper and put the extra powder back in its container.
Using an embossing tool, I heat set the clear powder. You can see how the powder goes from grainy to shiny. Keep the tool moving around the images until they are all shiny.
You can see how lovely the results of this technique are! The watermark ink adds a deeper tone, in the same color as the paper. The powder adds shine and texture to what would have been a plain background. This technique could be done with any color powder and on layouts too!
The card was finished with patterned papers from the Deck the Halls 6x6 paper pad and a fun journaling card from the Deck the Halls Ephemera Pack.
Thanks for stopping by!
Kimberly
