The first thing I want to do when decorating my home for the holidays is put up the Christmas tree! The twinkling lights and glittering ornaments immediately put me in the mood for the Christmas season.
For my ornament today, I am using the Deck the Halls collection. I love the gold foil accents included throughout ... and thought it would be perfect for catching the light and adding a bit of shimmer to our tree.
First, I created a frame ornament base using the Festive Plaid Paper, with it's shimmering gold foil lines, for the outer frame. The blue snowy background of the Border Strips Paper is the perfect backdrop for the Christmas tree sticker from the Element Sticker sheet.
On top of the tree, I placed the "Merry" chipboard sticker. Below the tree the "Tis' the Season" chipboard sticker, accented with a holly sticker, gives the tree something to rest on.
My favorite part of this ornament has got to be the floral cluster at the top. I die cut several holly leaves (Floral Holly Die Set) from Classic Green Felt Designer Cardstock to place behind the chipboard sticker. The lighter green berry sprigs were created using the Autumn Leaves Die Set and the green side of the Festive Plaid Paper.
For more dimension, I used the Floral Holly Die Set again to cut a couple of poinsettia flowers from Scarlet Red Designer Cardstock. The center of the flower gets a little sparkle and shine with the glittery gold enamel dots.
I can't wait to place this ornament on my Christmas tree this year! It's the perfect little vignette of what I love about the season ... a glittering Christmas tree against softly falling snow.
Thanks for coming by!
