There is something so magical about wintertime that captures my heart. The sparkling of the sun on freshly fallen snow, the glistening of icicles, the smell of fireplaces keeping homes warm and cozy. I love it! Winter brings back memories of playing outside in the snow for hours with my siblings, the excitement of sledding down a hill, and studying the way my boots made impressions in the slush and snow as I walked home from school.
Now that I'm older I get excited for a new kind of winter fun ... being inside, all cozy in my home, with a hot cup of cocoa and a table full of fun papercrafting supplies!
You can bring the magic of winter to a corner of your home with this fun project I'm sharing with you today. I used the "I Love Winter" collection to create a pair of paper skates. I plan on hanging these on our coat rack, but they would also be cute hanging on a door knob, a chest of drawers, or even in a window.
Do you know someone who is battling the winter blues? Fill these skates up with hot cocoa, marshmallows, and chocolate for a warm, winter hello and leave them hanging on their front door as a fun surprise. I know *I* would love it if someone left something like this for ME!
The skates were created with my Silhouette Cameo machine. I cut the base of the project out using the Ultra White Felt and Charcoal Grey Linen Designer Cardstocks.
Next, I added decorative paper. I used the tone-on-tone white pattern of the Chilly Day Paper for the sides, the woodgrain 3x4 Journaling Cards Paper for accents, and the striped Warm Wishes Paper for the blades.
Finally, I used all kinds of cute accents from the Element Stickers, Chipboard Accents, Ephemera die cuts, and Decorative Brads to decorate the sides of the skates. I love that each skate has it's own personality.
What are you waiting for? It's the perfect time of year to pull out your craft supplies and spend a cozy afternoon inside creating something just for fun ... just because.
