Hello friends! One of my favorite holidays is right around the corner! It’s Anya here today and I would like to share a card I made for Mother’s Day.
Whenever I make cards for Moms, I always pick a soft color palette and some type of flowers. From the “Girl Cousins” Mini Themes collection, I picked the Lovely Floral pattern paper and based my color choices off of this piece.
I love adding flowers to my cards and wanted to share a quick tutorial on how to make simple paper flowers using Echo Park’s Coordinating Solids paper and your favorite punch or die. I love using Echo Park’s Coordinating Solids paper because it eliminates the inking or coloring step. For the white flowers on the card I used Ultra White Felt Cardstock by Carta Bella and for the pink ones I used the Pink/Lt. Pink paper from the “Easter” collection.
For each flower, you need to cut three to four sets of petals in two different sizes using your favorite punch or dies. Fold a piece of paper towel, wet it, squeeze all the water out and set it by your working place. Take each flower petal, press it into the damp paper towel for a few seconds, and transfer it onto a soft working surface (I used a small pillow).
Using a large sized Stylus tool, work around all of the petal’s edges, pressing firmly, which will let them curl a little. Set aside to dry. After all the petals are dry, combine three to four petals to create one flower. To create small flowers, I used only two smaller sized petals. You can decorate the center of the flower with half pearls, brads, buttons or stamens.
Here are a few more fun options of Coordinating Solids paper to consider for your next handmade flowers:
Lt. Pink/Pink from the Wedding Bliss Collection
Dark Pink/Orange from the Summer Dreams collection
Dk. Purple/Lt. Purple from the Once Upon a Time - Princess collection
Pink/Lt. Pink from the Easter collection
Red/Pink from the Happy Summer collection
Blue/Lt. Blue from the “Let’s be Mermaids” collection
Pink/Lt Pink from the Petticoats collection
Orange/Yellow form the Petticoats collection
Sometimes, a small detail can make a big difference:) I wanted my envelope to match my card, so I cut a piece of the Tea Time paper the size of the envelope and covered the back panel with it. Now it looks complete!
To create this card I used following products:
“Girl Cousins” Lovely Floral pattern paper
