"Celebrate Autumn" Thank You Card

Even though it's still in the 90's, I'm starting to get excited for Autumn (my favorite season!!)!  I'm sure part of my excitement is being encouraged by the fun new products I have been playing with!  The "Celebrate Autumn" collection is perfect for getting me (and YOU) in the mood for fall!  In addition to the beautiful patterned papers, this collection also has coordinating designer products - embossing folders, decorative tape, dies, and more!  Here's a quick and easy card I created:

I used one of the designer dies to cut the "thanks" sentiment from the coordinating solid paper.

"Back To School" Project Challenge - Day 3

Hello paper crafting friends! Anya here today and I am happy to share the last five projects in the “One Collection, fifteen projects” challenge. Again, I am using the “Back to School” line by Echo Park and today I have some more ideas that might become useful.

1. Card for a Teacher

Every teacher deserves a card. They’ve got a tough job teaching our children and they deserve some words of encouragement and gratitude!  Cards are a good idea, but handmade cards are always so much better.

For this card I used the “Apple a Day” stencil  and a white ink pen to trace the apples onto red paper. This is a fun way to create your own patterned paper in any color you like. The sentiment to this card was added with the stamp from the “Star Student” Stamp Set .

2. Prize Ribbon

It’s interesting how little things make a big difference in children’s’ lives. They like to be noticed and encouraged – so I created these simple ribbons that any kid would be happy to receive, with the help of the Prize Ribbon Die set . I like how the stamps from the same stamp set fit perfectly inside the circle. To each ribbon I also added a tiny banner that was fussy cut from the School House Fun paper.

3. School Album Cover

School and denim go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly. I wanted to add that denim feel to a mini album I purchased at the store to keep school memories. All I had to do is take a piece of denim fabric and sew a simple cover, which didn’t take long to do.

To decorate the cover I used patterned paper pieces, journaling card, stickers, brads and other elements. I added them to the fabric cover with a strong double sided adhesive and stitched them down using a sewing machine. Wouldn’t it be amazing to keep memories throughout the school years in one book? And that special cover really makes a big difference.

4. Card for a student

How can you not want to create a card with all of these framed chalkboard pieces in the Chalkboard Cards patterned Paper? I used lots of layers on this card and tied all of the elements together with a bright yellow bow. I also covered the eyeglasses sticker with some Glossy Accents to give them more of a realistic glass look.

5. Decorative Banner

Another way to use up lots of leftover scraps is to make a happy colorful banner!

I cut up leftover pieces of patterned paper in different widths and lengths and cut one end in a banner shape or diagonal. You may add stickers and fussy cut pieces as I did here, and also you may add stamping to random banners for a fun look.

I hope I have inspired you to start thinking about back to school and making that day a little more special for your little ones.

"Pack Your Bags" Card

Hi Echo Park fans, Tya here with a fun card featuring the amazing Pack Your Bags collection by Carta Bella. Oh boy, did I fall head over heels in love with this collection. I had such a fun time with it! Maybe it's because I love to travel and this collection reminded me of all the fun trips we have taken. 

I made this fun card with a few stickers, ephemera, some 6x6 paper , enamel dots and a die cuts.  It was fun to make this shadow box type of card using the Rounded Square Nesting dies. I love the layers I was able to make.

"Back To School" Project Challenge - Day 2

Hello paper crafting friends! With less than a month left before another school year starts, I hope you have started thinking about this subject already; if not we are here to inspire you! Anya here today and I would love to share the next five projects with you in the “One Collection, fifteen projects” challenge. Just a reminder, I am using the super fun “Back to School” line by Echo Park.

1. Apple shaped box

If you have a digital die cutting machine you may download a similar shape, but in my case I simply used a hand drawn shape as a template for the apple and connected two pieces with a flat box to hold a treat.

I used the red polka dotted patterned for the apple and a few coordinating solids from the collection to cover the backs, cut out leaves, and a stem. The large solid leaves were cut free hand, but I used additional silhouette leaves that were cut with the Give Thanks and Leaves Die Set. To decorate the front of the apple I fussy cut three apples from the back of the 4x6 Journaling Cards paper and used them to represent a solving problem. The back of the apple shaped box I also decorated with a few stickers.

2. Card for a Graduate

For the main focus on this card I wanted to make a circle made from the pencils found on the Pencil Pusher pattern paper . You may either fussy cut pencils or use a tiny pencil die from the Star Student Die Set. The first layer I glued down and popped the second layer up with foam dots.

A number of stamps on this card were from the Star Student Stamp Set, but I especially liked the paper clip stamp that gave the illusion of a real paper clip without the bulk. I also used the Prize Ribbon Die Set  to cut a few stars from the silver paper and added them to the card with pop dots.

3. Project Life page

This was one of my favorite projects to make because I really liked how the cards, stamps and other little pieces helped create the perfect feel for back to school week.

I stamped on three journaling cards with stamps from the Star Student Stamp Set; printed journaling on two of them and added a smaller photo to one. All of my photos in the Project Life album are matted on white cardstock.

4. Alphabet Key Chain

Here is an idea to use some of the smaller scrap leftover. I trimmed two 12x12 sheets of Smooth White Adhesive Cardstock to 8.5x12” to fit through the regular sized printer and printed the letters of the alphabet in uppercase and lowercase, spacing them out so that they could be cut with a small tag die from the Holiday Tag Die Set.

Then I cut a bunch of the same tag shapes from scraps for the back of each letter. By using the self-adhesive paper it made the process so much faster and easier; all I had to do is peel off the backing and stick it to one of the patterned paper tags. The finished tags I assembled on a ring in alphabetical order for my son to start learning the letters.

5. Party Decoration

We like to celebrate the first day of school by making it a little more special! This year I wanted to decorate a little corner by the table where they will eat breakfast before leaving for school. As part of the decorations I made a few paper fans from coordinating solids and a striped pattern from one of the previous lines, but you may use any papers from the collection to create fun and eye catching decoration.

To create paper fans you will need a scoring board and a few strips of the same patterned paper. The largest paper fan was made from 4” strips of paper and for the smallest I used strips 2” wide. Connect each scored and pre-folded strip with strong adhesive and gather it in the middle securing at the back with foam tape.

"Back To School" Project Challenge - Day 1

Hello everyone! Have you ever challenged yourself to make as many projects from one collection as possible? Anya here today and I want to share with you the challenge I set for myself to create fifteen projects from one collection! I had so much fun making all of these and by the end I still had enough bits and pieces to make something else. Today I would like to share the first five out of fifteen I made from the “Back to School” line by Echo Park.

1. School Themed Layout

For my layout I used a few papers from the 6x6 Paper Pad, one Journaling card, a few Ephemera pieces, stickers and lots of banners. I based everything on an 8.5x11” piece of Carta Bella white cardstock and covered the background (about two inches from all four edges) with white die cut alphabet letters. I like the dimension and texture it added with this tone on the design technique.

For the letters I used the Tomorrowland Alphabet Die Set by Echo Park and a glue pen to adhere them to the page.

I absolutely love the special touch that stamping adds to scrapbooking pages. I used two stamps to stamp right above the journaling and added an “A+” and stars stamps to the journaling card and a tag. Stamps can always go a long way in scrapbooking, cardmaking and other forms of memory keeping. 

2. School Rocks card

This card measures about 4.25x6” folded and is designed on a white card base that was created from the Carta Bella white cardstock.

To create this card I started with a piece of blue patterned paper to which I added a piece of white cardstock that was dry embossed with the Autumn Leaves Embossing folder. After stitching around the white embossed piece, I adhered it to the card base and added the rest of the layers, popping some of them up with dimensional adhesive. As always, a few enamel dots is a great way to dress up any project.

3. Bookmarks

You can create three bookmarks from one piece of 6x6” patterned paper in no time! I used the Border Strips patterned from the 6x6 Paper Pad, cut it into three thin strips, added a die cut tag from the Holiday Tag Die Set to the top and bottom of this strip and adhered everything to a piece of white cardstock. Each bookmark was finished with a piece of crochet twine. You may decorate these as little or as much as you like, but I decided to keep them pretty simple and flat.  

4. Notebook cover

Check out how easy it is to create one-of-a-kind notebooks just in time for the back to school. I have made similar a few times before and my kids always loved their personalized notebooks!

To make that special cover, I trimmed a piece of Chalkboard Cursive patterned paper slightly larger than the front of the notebook, added a few layers of other patterned paper, stitching, brads, stickers and a few fussy cut pieces from patterned papers in the collection. The finished design I adhered to the front of the notebook with strong adhesive and trimmed off the excess.

5. “Pencil box” for a teacher

I remember a few years ago as one of the scrapbooking designers shared some ideas for Teacher Appreciation Day. Amongst the suggestions was a handmade box full of simple handmade cards. Here is my example of that idea.

I created a pencil box full of pencil shaped cards. To create the box, I used a digital cutting machine to cut the box shape and decorated it with banners, fall leaves, fussy cut elements and enamel dots. Check out the School House Fun, and the back of the 4x6 Journaling Cards paper – you can get endless amount of fussy cut embellishments for your projects!

Inside the box I added six pencil shaped cards that I created form from the Coordinating solids and a hand drawn template. I used a scoring board to add a little bit of texture to the main part of the pencil and a tiny circle punch to create the reverse scallop edge. As a finishing tough I added a little bit of stamping and really like how it just brought the cards to life.

Pack Your Bags "Let's Party" Card

Sometimes I find that I love bits and pieces of themed collections so much that I want to use them on projects with different themes!  This alpaca was just begging to be used on a fun birthday card, don't you think??

Hi friends, it's Wendy Sue here today, and I just couldn't wait to share this card I created with the "Pack Your Bags" collection!

I cut the alpaca card from the 3x4 card sheet, then I trimmed it a bit more - cutting the text from the bottom - you'll see what I did with it in just a minute.  Then I pulled out one of my favorite dies, an oldie, but a goodie, the "Let's Party" set, to cut the words and balloons for my card. Of course, I added a bit of stitching with my sewing machine (because I LOVE it), and I added a sticker with a few foam pop dots too.

To complete the card, I added the text portion of the 3x4 card, along with a few stickers to the INSIDE of my card!

My challenge to you is to think outside the box and try to use one of our themed collections for something other than the intended theme! :)

"Pack Your Bags" Suitcase Gift Card Box

Hello everyone! It's Tya up on the blog today and I love, love, LOVE making 3D project! I love making boxes and bags and this fun gift card holder that is shaped like a suitcase was the perfect way to use the awesome Pack Your Bags line from Carta Bella.

To make this box, I used my Silhouette and used this cut file : Suitcase 3D Box Gift Card with Tag

I used some kraft cardstock, a few pattern papers, stickers and ephemera to  make this box. Here are some close ups of the box:

 This is the inside of the pull out box. It is made for a gift card holder or you could insert some cash there as well. 

 I decorated the outside by layering some stickers  and ephemera. I tied a tag to the handle of the suitcase with some kraft twine. I loved that Traveler sticker the corner. And aren't the colors of this  collection so vibrant and fun?

Here is how the box pull out drawer works. This suitcase is such a fun way to give your favorite traveler a little fun money to spend on their trip. I can't wait to give this away to a friend who is leaving on a dream trip soon. Everyone needs a little fun money on vacation right?

"Pack Your Bags" Layout

Hi, Friends! Jana Eubank here. This year for our summer vacation my family spent a week in a beach house in Oregon. It was absolutely amazing. The first night we arrived we took in the sights and sounds of Portland before making the drive out to the coast. We ate at an amazing restaurant and couldn't wait to get home and scrapbook about it using the new Pack Your Bags collection.

 

I was so happy to see a tag on the Hello World Paper that included the Portland airport. Of course I had to include it at the top of my page!

 

 

Because this was the day of our arrival, I used the airplane sticker to create a little scene at the top of the page. The clouds were cut from a paper in the 6x6 paper pad.

 

 

It was raining in Portland as we were exploring the city (no surprise there, ha! ha!). I represented the rain on this page by creating  the blue textured background with the Destination Stripe 6x6 Stenciland some texture paste (tinted blue with spray mist) on the Ultra White Felt Designer Cardstock. I love the way it looks!

 

I stacked together several suitcase stickers to accent my page title of "Discover Portland." The "discover" word is from the Escape Word Die Set. The "Portland" letters were cut from a red paper of the 6x6 paper pad using the Script Alphabet Die Set.

 

 

The patterned border strips and pink paper below the title are also from the 6x6 paper pad. I added my typed journaling strips to the pink paper and then accented the bottom right corner of the page with several stickers layered on top of the red/white ticket from the Ephemera pack.

Hello paper crafting friends! Hope your summer is filled with good memories and great travels! Anya here today and I would like to share a shaker card with you I created with one of my favorite releases this year, the “Pack Your Bags” collection.

I used one of the 4x4” cards for the shaker window and built the rest of the design around it. I also fussy cut a lot of little pieces from a few different patterned papers in this line and used them as decorative elements on my card, popping some of them up with dimensional adhesive.

Using a stamp set I added a little sentiment inside the card, along with a pocket on the left side to hold an additional note or a monetary gift.

"Back to School" Layout

Hello, everone! Jana Eubank here. I love the fall and everything that goes with it ... including Back to School! The minute the notebooks and crayons hit the store shelves I get giddy! Knowing that you won't be surprised to learn that in addition to collecting office supplies this time of year, I also love to stock up on school-themed scrapbook supplies like the new Back to School collection! Swoon!

 

 

I have school albums for each of my kids with a tabbed section for each grade. At the beginning of the section I always place a page featuring the pictures we take on the first day of school. 

 

 

I grouped the close-up shots for this page on a block of black and white composition book patterned paper from the 6x6 paper pad. A strip featuring lots of school words from the Border Strips paper runs down the left side of the page.

 

 

I used a notebook patterned card from my stash for the journaling and then grouped all of the school supplies stickers at the bottom. Of course I had to add a paper clip!

 

 

I cut the title out on my Silhouette Cameo machine using the Ebony Black Felt Cardstock. I love how dark the black of this cardstock is. It makes such crisp, beautiful images on a page. The title is backed with a large circle cut using a wood pattern from the 6x6 paper pad.

 

 

I used the Prize Ribbon Die Set, to add the grade level to the bottom right corner of the larger photo. I layered together two of each of the pinked circles and ribbon tails for more dimension and interest. I used the star from the die set to add bright, yellow stars around the page.
