“Down on the Farm” Gift Box

It's always a good idea to have an extra gift box. Michelle Zerull with you today to share a fun little gift box made with the “Down on the Farm” Collection from Echo Park Paper.

This gift box is the perfect size to hold socks, candies or other small treats. The truck patterned paper makes it suitable for your country-boy cousin, or your farmhouse-loving best friend. The cute barn shape is sure to please everyone!

The ephemera in this collection is adorable. Each pack is filled with farm phrases in fun fonts, as well as cute graphic images. The most difficult part of this project was choosing which ephemera piece to use. I love them all! I used the Prize Ribbon Die Set to trim the farmer ephemera in a circle. The prize ribbon reminds me of a county fair and complements this collection nicely.

I like knowing that I have a fun gift box ready when I need it.

Create Your Own "Happy Memories" Layout

Welcome back scrappy peeps! Suzanna here today! How were your holidays? Have you recovered yet? Are you ready to transition into the new year? Cliché as it is; I cannot believe another year is around the corner! Such great memories 2018 holds for my family and me.

Speaking of which, Thanksgiving may have come and gone but the memories haven’t! This Carta Bella collection, Our House, is just perfect for those warm, cozy family moments such as this. Although, I cannot say we were warm as we waited for the camera timer to tick down in 30 some degree weather. Alas, it’s an annual tradition just as sitting down to share our Thanksgiving turkey and all the other fixings is a tradition.

The top of this page, or the header as I refer to it, was created using both sides of the “Butterflies” patterned paper and sets the color scheme for the layout. Just the top of a ephemera tag sticks up above the photo to break that straight across line and make your eye stop at the photo. It provides a place to nestle the year that this photo was taken. As I know it’s Thanksgiving, no other date information is necessary.

I am a mixed media gal, what can I say? I played with a few ideas using this stencil and ultimately settled on a coordinating footer for the layout. The way the mist fades into the cardstock softens the look and ties the top of the layout to the bottom.

This little cluster here moves your eye on a diagonal across the page from the photo to title to this spot where the journaling is nestled. I manually die cut leaves using the 6x6 paper pad and the Thankful leaves die to layer on the top of the ephemera tag. The tag is sitting an a shelf created from the selvage or branding strip of one of the papers. It had the perfect white border around it to delineate the mixed media chevron from the patterned paper.

"Down On the Farm" Barn Gift Box

Hi! It’s Jana Eubank here! I had so much fun creating this Barn Gift Box using the Down On the Farm collection that I’m going to share with you today. Let me tell you how I created it!

I found this adorable cut file online and was inspired to recreate a similar look using cut files that I already owned. (Check the bottom of this post for the list of cut files that I used.)

First, I cut out the Barn Box using Ultra White Felt Designer Cardstock for the roof and the gingham check Barn Yard Friends paper.

I wanted the roof to have shingles like the inspiration photo, so I simply cut 1” strips of the Ultra White Felt Designer Cardstock using my paper trimmer and then cut notches into the strips using a pair of scissors. I layered them together along the roof, finishing it off with a wider strip scored down the middle and notched on both sides to lay across the top of the roofline. To help the shingles pop a bit more, I brushed the edges with light gray distressing ink.

I used detail scissors to fussy-cut the farmer from one of the stickers on the Element Sticker sheet. I added him along with the cow sticker to the front of the barn using foam squares. I created a few corn stalks to go on either side of the barn door using the leaf sprig from the Flowers Bloom Die Set.

Next, I used the Carta Bella Paper Tree Die Set to add die cut trees and additional corn stalks to the sides of the box.

The barn is placed on top of an octagonal shaped box that I cut using Navy Blue Felt Designer Cardstock. I added green “grass” to the top of the box using Classic Green Felt Designer Cardstock. Before adhering the grass panel into place, I embossed it using a letter-sized polka dot embossing folder from my stash. I also die cut a long fence shape from Ultra White Felt Designer Cardstock using the “Echo Park Fence” cut file (Design #39988) and adhered it along the edges of the panel. I welded the fence sections together in the design program to make a longer border, then scored the bottom of each post, which allowed me to adhere it to the grass panel.

The rim of the box is decorated with the chicken border cut from the Journaling Cards paper. I also added panels to the base of the box cut from the Farm Trucks paper.

The front of the box is decorated with the “Farm Living” die cut from the Ephemera Pack, a dog sticker (Element Stickers), more die cut corn stalks (Flowers Bloom Die Set), and a pair of cowboy boots created with the Carta Bella Boot & Horseshoe Die Set.

 

I cut the boots from Kraft Designer Cardstock, Chestnut Brown Linen Designer Cardstock, and silver foil cardstock from my stash. I stamped a design on the side of the boot with brown ink using the leaf stamp from the Beautiful Day Stamp Set.

I love the way this project turned out and think it will be so much fun to fill with goodies for someone!

"Our House" Mini Album

Hello everyone! It's Dorymar back on the blog today! I can’t believe Christmas is almost here! I hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends!

Today I want to share a beautiful 3D project I designed with the colorful “Our Home Collection” by Carta Bella. I'm sure you going to love this creative idea. I took the inspiration from one of the houses in the collection and recreated it as an explosion box with a mini album inside. But you can use this project as a mini album, as a recipe box or simply, to decorate any place in your home.

 

The measurements of this box are 8 x 5 x 3.5.  I used the ultra-white cardstock to make the base. Due to the firmness of the cardstock and the pattered papers of the collection, I didn’t use chipboard in the base. To cover the exterior of the house I used the Home Sweet Home and the Wildflowers patterned paper.

When you remove the roof, you can see the beautiful pockets pages inside the house.

In the corner you can see the little house that served as inspiration for the project. I love doodling, that's why I always make them around the photo mats.

One of my favorite parts to make a mini album is to add the interactive elements.  The box is filled with six 7”x 4.5” pocket pages, each one with a 6.25” x 8” inside card. All covered with the beautiful pattered paper of the collection. All in all, I have 12 pages to document memories or put a picture of my recipes and an extra space in the card for journaling of recipes.  

In each of the pages I combined the cards, tags, frames and stickers of the collection to create a small collage to decorate the album.  But as it is not enough, the designs that all the papers have invite you to continue cutting!  That's why I like to combine them with the pre-cut elements that the collection offers.   The houses, the flowers, the butterflies, the messages, all are super adorable!

Daily December Travelers Notebook

Hello everyone! Are you documenting your December? I love taking a closer look at our everyday life during this magical time of the year and record simple moments and stories that happen during December. This year I made it decided to use Travelers Notebook for my December Daily and couldn't be happier!

I decorated the front of the Notebook and a Pocket Page with some die cuts, tags and washi tape, and kept each page pretty simple - adding just a few tiny embellishments and tiny pieces of patterned paper. Here is a closer look at the first five days of my December Daily 2018:

I think this is the way to go for any busy family! It doesn't take long to complete each page spread, and a pretty Travelers Notebook always stays stylish! i hope I've inspired you to take a look at this option and it's never too late to document the Holiday season!

"You & Me" Love Card

Hi, Everyone! It’s Jana Eubank. Valentine's Day is right around the corner and I am getting ahead of the game this year by creating a card for my sweetheart using the beautiful You and Me collection.

A pair of swans (cut from the Swan Lake Love paper) are "swimming" on the sketched oval shape from the 3x4 Journaling Cards paper.

I adhered the oval to the narrow floral card from the 3x4 Journaling Cards paper so that the flowers peek out on either side. I emphasized the flowers by tucking in more florals created with the Love You Floral Die Set and Ultra White Designer Felt Cardstock.

Next, I cut the "Love You" sentiment from the same die set using Gold Shimmer and Ebony Black Felt Designer cardstocks. I offset the layers slightly giving the gold paper a shadow layer underneath.

Finally, I added the "You Have My Heart" sticker above the swan and added tiny gems in the corners for a bit of sparkle.

"HOME" Framed Banner

Hello there! Tya here up on the blog today! I am so happy to be sharing my project with you all - I made this fun home decor item using the lovely "Our House" collection by Carta Bella. I have this frame that I like to decorate with different themes and display it on a table in my living room. I knew when I saw this collection I wanted to make another banner to display.

I used some kraft cardstock as the bases for the banners and then added a few different pattern papers from the collection. I turned to my trusty Silhouette and cut out letters from Ebony Black Linen cardstock and some ovals from Natural White cardstock. I then decorated each letter with the stickers and  Ephemera from the collection. Here are close-ups of each of the letters:

I love the florals and butterflies in the collection and so this letter is decorated with a few of those stickers. 

 How cute is that kitty cat sticker? I layered the hello sticker on top of one of the Ephemera pieces. I also added a few heart stickers and Ephemera banners to this banner piece. 

 I fell in love with the Home Sweet Home sticker and used this on the right side of the letter. The collection also has some really cute houses on the sticker sheet so they were added to the bottom left side.

My kitchen is the center of my home and this letter was a tribute to that. I loved all the different little sub-themes in the collection and the bowls and utensil stickers were just too cute not to use.

"The Best Is Yet To Come" Love Card

Good morning Echo Park Paper friends! Anya here today and I am happy to share a card I created with the brand new "You & Me" collection. For this card I picked a colorful striped background and kept everything else in white and pink color combination. 

The big fussy cut heart gave me a nice foundation for the scene of two birds. I also used large flower sticker underneath the birds and a few die cut leaves that were cut from white cardstock with the Autumn Leaves Die Set and arranged them around the birds in a diagonal line. 

The addition of a bold black and white stripe piece from the Valentines Dots and Stripes collection 6x6 Paper Pad gave this card a nice contrast. To finish the card I covered the back panel with a piece of colorful  "You and Me Flowers" patterned paper.

"Our House" Stamped Kitty Card

It’s my very first Echo Park/Carta Bella blog post. Exciting! For it, I’m sharing a simple way to make the most of your tiny stamps. My card features stamps from the happy Our House collection. Bitty images are more common than ever, thanks to the popularity of creative day planners and traveler’s notebooks. Of course, they can be used beyond planner pages, as this card illustrates.

Stamp several small images on cardstock to create a unique patterned background (or foreground) for your card. I just adore this kitty icon and knew I wanted to create a card using it, so I paired it with other small images from the Our House stamp set to create this design.

To make the “hello” sentiment stand out, I stamped a kitty on pink patterned paper (the same paper I used for the card’s mat), die cut it using the coordinating die (so convenient!) and added it and an ephemera heart near my stamped greeting. The pop of color was just what the card needed.

I also added a tabbed ephemera pieces to the card for a little extra something.

Stamping your own patterned background is a great idea for any card but comes in extra handy at the holidays when you’re mass producing cards. Stamps can be used over and over again, making them a cost effective option. Hooray!

"You & Me" Love Layout

Hiya scrappy peeps! This is Suzanna here today and I would love to welcome you to my first blog post for Echo Park! I am thrilled and honored to be here and cannot wait to share with you my love for Echo Park Papers over the course of the next year! Speaking of love, have you seen the latest “love” collection, “You and Me”? It’s fresh, it’s unique and it’s not all pink and red! Sure, there are a lot of lovey dovey sayings, but they don’t all have to be about couples. This love-ly collection was perfect for documenting my daughter’s love for her cat.

I created the “love” cut file myself based on one of the stickers in the Element Sticker sheet. I cut that out with my Silhouette using the Ebony Carta Bella cardstock. This cardstock is new to me and WOW! I have a new favorite for digital die cutting! This stuff cuts like butter with crisp cuts every time. I also really recommend it for mixed media. While I didn’t use a ton, there wasn’t the warp that I usually get when applying texture paste as I did here. I used one of the heart stencils, Falling For You, to create a little bit of visual interest beside the vertical strips that I used.

There’s nothing that speaks love more than homemade so for that homemade touch, I used some floss and straight stitched around the outside of the heart. Each of the other letters is cut with a different patterned paper and slightly off set.

Even if you don’t do Project Life, I still recommend getting the 3x4 and 4x6 sheets of patterned paper! I often will use them to back photos, as I’ve done here or to die cut. For example, that yellow patterned paper for the “E” is one of the 3x4 cards. There wasn’t yellow in the 12x12 sheets and I wanted to incorporate the yellow so the 3x4 card was perfect. And, I didn’t have to cut into a whole sheet of paper. Brilliant, isn’t it?

Scattered through out the layout are a few of the Element Stickers and stamped sentiments from the coordinating stamp set. I have a little tip to share with you; if you offset stamp, or shadow stamp, as I did here, it’s not as essential that your stamping be perfect. You can accidentally miss a letter and it’s more easily correctable as the repetition is more forgiving.
