Are you ready to Party? Suzanna here today and I have a party on a page to share with you!
Sometimes, we can be our own inspiration. About a year ago, I created a layout for a design team project that had to be designed around the 1980s. I used big 80s styled letters to document the big hair I had back in then. Something about this Echo Park collection, Let’s Party, made me think of that layout. I used the same idea of an 80s font to create a cut file that allowed me to use LOTS of the papers in this collection to document my daughter’s 12th birthday.
In essence, the title constitutes the body of the layout as both photos and journaling are nestled within the letters that make up the title. Using the black ink to stamp sentiments adds contrast and a visual focus to the layout. While the title reads from left to right and your eye follows that line to read the title, there is still a visual triangle created by the three photos that also move your eye around the page.
The B sides of the patterned papers are the majority of the papers that I utilized as the tone on tone papers provided interest to the page but weren’t too busy with all the colors involved.
By journaling on the darker of the patterned papers, I am able to still tell the story of the occasion and have it be part of the design of the page.
Be sure to check out my personal YouTube channel HERE to see the process video and see how this layout came together. If you are interested in the cut file, you may download that for free (and personal use only) HERE.
