Hiya scrappy peeps! Suzanna here today. While Spring and Autumn (or Fall) are my absolute favorite seasons, I love Summer as well! And just as much as I love the season, to love this bright, cheerful collection from Echo Park! It’s a definite MUST HAVE for your upcoming summer fun!
The last layout I shared with you was a throw back of my son with Peter Pan. This layout too is a throw back. This little lass was 2, almost 3, in this photo and she is now 12, almost 13! A full decade ago! And what better what to showcase that adorable photo than with a large sentiment with SEVEN of the patterned papers behind it add color?
Also released this month are new additions to the Designer series; Designer dies, stamps and stencils. If you follow my work at all, you know I have swimmers. Anything water related that is released is a must have in my collection. So it’s no surprise, I’m sure, that I had to have the Make Waves stamp. I put a light wash of watercolor and made sure that dried before stamping. It’s another layer that adds visual interest to the layout.
Intermingled amongst the words are relevant stickers and chipboard pieces to punctuate the words in the phrase. There is just enough to see that it doesn’t distract you from the sentiment and you are able to read the whole saying. The coordinating navy cardstock is grounding and used for the “lesser” words, thus allowing the color to pop without being visually overpowering.
The large 12x12 frame incorporates colors used through out the layout and really ties everything together, creating a uniting frame around the layout.
How do you think my daughter would feel if I had her re-create this photo this summer? I just might have to give that a go!
