When it comes to being prepared, the Scouts have nothing on scrapbookers! Oh, sure, we might not know how to find edible moss or fashion huts from vines, but we’re experts when it comes to taking our craft on the road. With this DIY travel album made ahead of time using the darling Summer Adventure collection, you can easily document your journeys as they’re happening. Plus, a single laminated book cover holds up to four DIY mini albums, so you’ll have plenty of room to tell your fireside stories!
To create my own sturdy traveler’s notebook cover, I used my laminator and some elastic cording. You’ll find a quick flick on my blog with instructions for this process. Before I laminated the cute woodgrain patterned paper, I die cut some words from it using the Explore Outdoors Die Set.
Once my paper was die cut, scored, and laminated, I added elastic cording. Now I can slide up to four bitty paper books inside to take with me on the go.
These sweet notebooks are another DIY. Simply start with a 8” x 6” sheet of paper, scored and folded down the center. This creates a 4” x 6” book cover. From there, trim slightly smaller sheets of paper to bind inside.
Using the various journaling card sheets, I trimmed several different page sizes, which adds to the personality of each journal. I even added some bitty journaling cards from the 6x6 paper pad.
Please visit my blog for a video tutorial on making and binding your books.
We spend a week each summer at my parents’ cabin in Colorado. It’s a fun adventure, filled with fishing and hiking and four-wheeling and s’mores and all of those divine offline moments! I love that this project gives me separate little books for each of my two children to tell their unique stories, as well as a third book for me to make for my parents as a gift, AND the option of a fourth book for myself. Using a portable printer, it will be easy for us to capture our stories as they’re happening and come home with sweet keepsakes.
As you plan your summer fun, I hope this project idea gives you s’more inspiration! ;)
Cheers!
