Teen Spirit Boy Scrapbook Layout

Hiya scrappy peeps! Suzanna here today to share with you my FAVORITE layout I have created for Echo Park so far this year! Having both a boy and girl, I can tell you that finding boy collections that are suitable for this documenting teen moments is tough. Near impossible. Until recently, that is! Teen Spirit Boy is just the thing you need!

Everything on this layout is in a center column with layers of various elements from the collection. There are a mix of classic, older and chic, newer icons from a teens life in this collection that are fantastic. As this is a sports based layout (albeit unannounced), I choose icons that supported that theme. My son is a competitive swimmer and this layout is about the opening day of college recruiting.

The title of the layout, “Open Season” is a mix of an Echo Park metal die and a font I used in Silhouette studio. The papers are all from the 6x6 paper pad. I love that the 6x6 paper pad includes at least one solid coordinating paper. And, as always, the smaller scaled patterns in the 6x6 paper pad are perfect from smaller elements like I like to use on my pages.

The central portion of this layout was created using the stamp set that accompanies this collection. I literally transferred each stamp as it’s laid out in the packaging, onto a giant stamp block and stamped repeating blocks on white cardstock. Wanting variety on the page, I offset neighboring columns. I love that I was able to create my own complimentary background with the stamp set! Pretty sweet, don’t you think?

The pennants are fussy cut from the back side of the 3x4 journaling card patterned paper. Give that this layout has to do with swimming/sports, they were perfect from that stand point. I also really liked the way that the pennants pointed down to the photos at the bottom of the page and created movement on the page.

This is an exciting time in this young man’s life, college recruiting. And, we are learning, it is a somewhat competitive process. A delicate process too. So, I chose to keep the journaling private. VERY private. That red tag, from the Frames & Tags Ephemera, is a spot for hidden journaling and as such, is where I have put the story of the photos.

“Out-of-the-Box” Teen Spirit Boy Box Cards

Teen boys are great at thinking outside of the box. I know, because I raised two of them.

Michelle here with you today to share two “Out-of-the-Box” box cards made with the Teen Spirit Boy collection from Echo Park Paper. This collection has something for every guy. Is your teen a gamer, a jock, a rocker or a science guy? This collection covers all the guys!

For this project, I made two box cards. I used the box card base from a Silhouette Design Store file and added ephemera and stickers from the Teen Spirit Boy Ephemera pack and the Teen Spirit Boy Element Sticker Sheet. For the wire extensions, I wrapped the wires with colored crepe paper and added even more fun elements to float outside of the box. f you're not familiar with box cards, don't worry, they're not difficult to construct. Box cards are small dimensional boxes that fold flat to mail. They're fun to make and they're fun to receive too!

For the “Spaced Out Guy” box card, I gave my scissors a good workout. The helmet that covers the front is one of the designs from the Teen Spirit Boy “4x4 Journaling Cards” Patterned Paper. I removed the phrase from the center of the helmet to create a “window” for the front of the box. The space alien is an astronaut taken from the Teen Spirit Boy Element Sticker Sheet. I cut the alien head from an ephemera piece in the Teen Spirit Boy Ephemera pack and attached it over the astronaut’s helmet. It looks like it was intended to be that way. It's so cute to see the alien waving!

For the “Game On” box card, I wanted to include something that every gamers could relate to...the controllers. No matter what system they use, the controller is key. There's several varieties included in the Teen Spirit Boy Element Sticker sheet, so I used three of them to pop out of the box. I also included a “Hello” banner from the Teen Spirit Boy “3X4 Journaling Card” Patterned Paper. I'm saving my scraps because those banners will be great on future projects too! Did you see those cute “buttons” on the front of the box card? Those came from the Teen Spirit Boy Element Sticker sheet too. That sheet is loaded with fun images!

I love making my guys dimensional projects that I can send in the mail. They are no longer teens, but I know that they are going to love these “Out-of-the-Box” box cards made from the Teen Spirit Boy Collection from Echo Park Paper.

Best Days of Your Life "Teen Spirit" Card

Hello there! It's Tya up on the blog today sharing with you a handmade card featuring the cute-as-can-be Teen Spirit Girl collection. This collection for sure had me hooked from the moment I saw it! I had all the heart eyes for it :) So, so many fun icons to play with! It was hard not to keep adding more and more to my card, but I think what I settled on turned out pretty cute lol! 

 As you can see, I used several different patterned papers from the 6x6 paper pad and for the orange piece, I did trim down one of the 4x4 cut apart cards. The card was then decorated with some of the Ephemera, stickers, black twine and some enamel dots for some shine, Here are a couple of close-ups of the card:

 Isn't that Converse sneaker so adorable? And all the Emojis are so fun too! 

This collection is SO MUCH FUN! As a mama of teenagers- this line was perfect for some of those older kid moments. I plan to give this to my sweet 17-year-old daughter to remind her of this special time in her life and to enjoy it now because guess what's next? .....Adulting ....lol! Teen Spirit - Girl Photo Banner

It’s a regular teen scene in my daughters’ room. Oh, sure, my girls are only three and seven, but that doesn’t mean we can’t use and LOVE the new Teen Spirit Girl collection. It’s so vibrant and happy and full of whimsy. I had a ball using it to create a banner for my babes’ room. 

 

School’s out, and my kiddos are missing their friends, so a photo banner of their pals seemed the perfect way to dress up the cork board on their new bunkbed. 

 

The Teen Spirit Girl 6x6 paper pad is perfect for this kind of project. The pages already have a hole punched in them. So, for some of my banner cards, I created pocket backgrounds by trimming 1” from either side of a 6x6 sheet, centering the hole. I then scored and folded the bottom up, creating a pocket and a finished 4x5 background. 

 

Wanting variety, I designed a few different banner-card styles. In addition to the pocket described above, I made some from the Teen Spirit Girl Ephemera. With little more than a doily and a scrap of paper, it was easy to turn a quote card into a textured banner addition.

 

The 3x4 Journaling Cards and 4x4 Journaling Cards sheets from the 12x12 paper set also make cute and easy banner-card options. I trimmed a few of my favorites and added them to the vibrant mix. 

 

I even dipped into the Teen Spirit Boy line for this project. My younger daughter has more boy friends than gal pals. It was fun combining the two product lines to create her cards. 

 

Another happy banner addition — photo booth strips. My girls and I hop in photo booths any chance we get, so we’re running out of places to put the filmstrips. This opens up a new spot to put our pics on display. Yay! 

 

To give my relatively flat banner some oomph and extra texture, I threaded on some felt poms. 

 

I also tied a bundle of different fibers and trims to the ends of the banner. I used pom pom trims, jute and yarn, but ribbon and other fibers would also work well. 

 

To attach the cards to the banner, I opted for small clothespins, but binder clips or even washi tape would do the trick too.

 

This is a relatively quick project to make, and you can always add to it as you have photos to include. I realize my teed days have loooong since passed, but I would even happily use this line on a banner for my craft space. It just makes me giddy, and it seems like such a feeling should be shared. ;)

Girl Squad Layout

Hi friends, Dorymar here today to share a layout created with the Teen Spirit Girl Collection. This collection has great pages about girls. Also have many beautiful stickers, tags, and pieces of ephemera to choose from that it makes it so simple to add details in the layout.

To start this layout, I used the b-side of the Epic Button Paper as a base.  I had this paper trimmed about one quarter of an inch on each side, and attached to the b-side of the 4x4 Journaling Cards Paper.  I used the new Shine of Stars Stencil with a white gesso to add a little interest in the background.

I chose a cut file from the Silhouette Store designed by Paige Evans and used it to create the Girl Squad phrase.  The empty letters spaces were backed with different patterned papers from the collection found in the 6x6 paper pad.  I put a of foam adhesive between patterned paper and cut out create a fun dimension on the page.

I fill the inside of the letter “Q” and “D” using sequins. For this, I used foam adhesive between the transparent sheet and the backed of the letters. 

Since the pictures are glued, I added a cluster made up of stickers and die cuts to the top of the picture in the right side and added more stickers and die cuts around the picture on the left side.  I added lines on each on the border of the paper to add a personal touch.

More Precious than Rubies Card

Hi there! It's Tya and I am up on the blog today to share a sweet card I made using the Forward with Faith collection. This line is so beautiful and includes some of my favorite colors to work with. I love any line that includes black and tan with pops of bright colors! It is simply gorgeous! Here is my card:

I used a lovely floral and a pink pattern paper from the 6x6 paper pad for my background papers. I added a bit of lace ribbon along the border of the two papers. I then got to decorating the card. I love making clusters of different kinds of embellishments on my cards. I layered a few different pieces of Ephemera on a kraft colored doily. I did add some foam tape behind the Ephemera pieces for some dimension. 

I added a floral sticker from the Element Sticker sheet to the bottom corner of the card. I added a few black enamel dots to the card for some shine. I also tied a knot on the small tag with some white crochet thread. 

This card was one of my favorites to put together and the sentiment is so lovely as well, I knew I wanted that to be the focal point of this card. This collection has so many wonderful icons and embellishments; I could have made many more cards with these inspirational words on them. RAK "Forward With Faith" Card Set

Something happened to me when I opened the new Forward with Faith line and flipped through the paper. I was overcome with a desire to spread comfort. I suppose it’s because the words this collection are comforting words … words you want to share with others. A feeling you want to share. From this feeling, my project was born. 

 

 

I created a RAK set. RAK stands for random acts of kindness. And RAK rocks! ;) Finding ways to spread a little good makes my heart happy. Especially when involving my children. In fact, as I was making these, my seven-year-old came up and said, “Oh, are you making more notes to leave people?” LOL Yes, honey. Yes I am! And you, my dear blog friend, can do the same. It’s easy. It doesn’t take much more than a single 6x6 paper pad. If you want to add a bit more, a collection of ephemera is a nice choice (but totally optional). Take a look: 

 

 

THE NOTES

Create quick notecards from patterned paper in the Forward with Faith 6x6 paper pad using three basic steps:

 

step 1: Trim 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” squares from the patterned paper of your choice. I opted for the Holy Places pattern, which provides lines for me to write on. (I always value the assistance of a good line.)

 

 

step 2: Either leave the back side of your square as it is or select another pattern to trim and adhere. (I adhered 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” pieces cut from Be Still and Blessed Butterflies and used them to back my lined squares.) 

 

step 3: Trim the cute little decorative journaling cards from the 3x3 Journaling Cards and 3x4 Journaling Cards sheets (in the 6x6 pad) and use them to decorate your notes. 

NOTE: It’s best to keep your notecards flat so they’ll fit in your envelopes. No dimensional adhesive here. 

 

 

TIPS FOR WRITING YOUR WORDS

Sometimes finding the right words can be tough. Pinterest is an excellent resource. I searched “words of encouragement” and was gifted with many inspiring options. Another trick is to simply speak from your heart. Think about what you'd like to hear from someone and let the words flow. Try not to overthink it. It’s not meant to be perfect. It’s simply a way to pause life for a moment and touch someone with a heartfelt sentiment or pick-me-up—a little quiet in this fast-paced, noisy world we live in.

 

THE ENVELOPE

Give your little love notes a home with this super simple envelope technique. 

 

step 1: Remove a 6x6 sheet from the Forward with Faith paper pad and score at the 1” mark and the 3 3/4” mark. Trim the scored sheet in half, leaving the top border (where the hole is punched) in tact. 

 

 

step 2: Punch a half circle to create a dip in your envelope (a sneak peek of the note within).

 

 

step 3: Fold your envelope shape, securing the three closed edges with either a strong adhesive, staples or stitching. (I opted for machine stitching, as I love this look on paper.) 

 

step 4: Use either your pre-cut journaling cards (STEP 3 under “THE NOTES”) or ephemera or both to decorate your envelopes. 

NOTE: Now’s a great time to turn to that dimensional adhesive and pop some of your pieces up.

 

 

step 5: Insert your letters of encouragement and secure your envelope shut using an enamel dot and some wrapped yarn or twine. (optional step)

 

 

THE CLIPBOARD

Wanting a place to house my love notes where they’d be easy to find and protected in my massive handbag, I opted for a bitty clipboard, which I dressed up with a piece of ephemera.

 

 

I also tied on a few strings that coordinate with my notes, you know… just because. ;)

 

 

Just like that, I have a set of notes ready to leave when we’re out and about and feel so inclined to do so. A few RAK ideas include:

 

• Slip one under someone’s windshield as a welcome change of pace from the usual spam or takeout menu. 
• Pick up the tab for the person behind you in line at the drive-through and ask the cashier to give them the card with their order. 
• While you’re at it (or instead), treat that cashier to a note. I’m sure it would make their day.
• Place one in a library book before returning it.
• Add one to your Red Box rental before sliding it back in the big, red box. 
• Leave one on a park bench.
• Insert one into the bank tube before driving off.
• Place one in an empty locker at the gym or rec center.
• Leave one behind in a hotel room as you’re checking out.
• Add one to the inside of your bill for the server at the restaurant. 
• Put one in the mailbox for your mail carrier. 
• Ding-dong ditch a neighbor, leaving a note on the mat before you make your escape.

"Forward With Faith" Scrapbook Layout

Hiya scrappy peeps! Suzanna here today to share with you a layout I created using the Forward with Faith collection. While I used this faith filled collection here on a layout, there is so much potential for more! It would be perfect in a travelers notebook or bible journaling.

Not all “faith-full” layouts have to be about sacraments or other church centered moments. It could be as simple as these photos of myself sharing my spiritual journey – those inward moments with the Lord.

There are a number of butterflies scattered through out the collection which I supplemented with this digital cut file. I love the lightness this adds to the layout.

A frame from the Frame & Tags Ephemera serves as the perfect spot for some simple journaling.

This biblical passage is fussy cut from one of the 4x4 journaling cards. I then backed it with an Echo Park doily digital cut file. A few of the Element Stickers scattered around add some color and visual interest to this cluster.

There are lots of great phrases and biblical quotes with this collection.

Hello friends! Michelle here today, shaking up Summer with my Nautical Shaker Card made with the beautiful Carta Bella Deep Blue Sea Collection.

This tall card is deceptively simple to create and is certain to impress your family and friends. The base is made from Carta Bella Ultra White Felt Designer Cardstock. The cardstock has a beautiful texture and weight that makes every project look professional. The card's shaker element features a Ship's Wheel from the Deep Blue Sea Sail Away Ship Wheel Die Set, as well as a fun ephemera piece from the Deep Blue Sea Frames and Tags Ephemera.

"Sail Away" Layout

Hi Friends, Its Dorymar here!! Today I’m sharing a beautiful layout remembering a family trip to Coco Cay, Bahamas on 2017.  I created this page with the Deep Blue Sea Collection from Carta Bella.  This collection has a ton of beautiful patterns, perfect for a Sea Adventure.

As a base I used the Lighthouses paper, on the top I used two beautiful strips from the Border Strip paper, then I added several patterned paper layers behind my photo.

I used two of the 3x4 cards from the Journaling Cards paper and then accented it with some stickers.  This embellishment cluster on the left was fun to create. I used a combination of stickers, I cut out a lighthouse and then I cut a rudder from the Sail Away Ship Wheel Die Cut Set. I layered them all together with foam tape to give dimension.  I really love how they look!

I cut the Sail Away phrase from the Sail Away Die Cut Set and use for the title.  To accent it I cut an anchor from the Ahoy Anchor Die Set and add beige twine.  This give the perfect touch to the title.

The Strip Border paper have fun messages and designs, I used the message that I liked the most and combined it with another border and decorate it using the edge of the buoys from the stickers sheet.

I love how fun this collection is! It was the perfect way to document the adventure of the sea!
