Dots & Stripes Care Package & Card

It’s Lydia Cost today, and I thought I’d share with you a little insight to how I like to put together care packages.  Especially during this time of social distancing and high-anxiety situations, it’s nice to let your friends and family know that you’re thinking of them.  There’s no better way to do that than a phone call and something pretty that lands on their doorstep!

My sweet friend is always such an example of giving, and I’m happy I can give a little love back in the form of this care package.  I decided I was going to deck out my care package with the amazing Dots & Stripes collection.  This little box was going to be filled with all kinds of beautiful spring-colored dots!

To start I picked a medium sized box, that I knew would hold just the right amount of goodies and also lessen shipping costs.  I started this project by lining the insides of my box with 2 colors of pretty spotted paper from the pastel collection.  Simply measure out the dimension of the lid and the sides with your ruler, and then cut your papers to size.

After you have lined the inside of your package, now you get to add in all the fun stuff!  My friend Suzanne is also a crafty lover, so I wanted to make sure that I made room for lots of crafty goodies.  I lined the bottom of my package with white paper grass for some padding and to make it look even prettier.

Next I created some great flat packages for inside with my patterned papers; creating some great envelopes of varying sizes makes for a really beautiful place to place trinkets, ephemera, and candies inside for a cohesive look.  I even recycled some plastic sleeves from old ephemera packs to send some ephemera and some handmade paper clips I created for her.  Use your patterned paper inside these to add labels and titles for a beautiful finished look as well.

Make sure to finish off your care package with a heartfelt card!  I used the Dots & Stripes collection to create my little card, and I had the perfect scraps from my package to put it all together.  I picked 3 of the colors of scraps and layered them onto my card, and then followed it up with some floral stickers and a die-cut sentiment from the All Girl collection!  It paired so well with the Dots & Stripes collection.  Place the card on top of your care package, or you can even adhere an envelope to the lid of your care packing to slip the card into.  This was it won’t get lost in the package, and it will be the first thing they see when opening.

DIY Paper Succulents

Hey everyone, Michelle here today with a new  project using the Plant Lady collection.   This collection is so much more than just plants and gardening.  It has a gorgeous tropical feel and would be perfect for all your summer vacation photos!  I had been wanting to do some paper succulents for my sunroom for a while, this collection was just what I needed!

 

 

I choose 3 different papers for the pots.  All the papers in this collection coordinate together very well.  I could have used any of them.  This watercolor paper is my favorite!

 

 

I also used 3 different green papers for the plants, 2 pattern and one solid.  I wanted these to all be different from each other.

 

 

This little cactus is my favorite!  Look at the little flower on top!  How cute is that?  I also added some shredded pieces of pattern paper inside the pot to create some filling.

 

To finish them off I just added a simple tag on each.  They turned out really sweet and will be perfect in my sunroom!

Paper Philodendron

I do not have a green thumb, however, I still enjoy the look and feel of plants in my home. My name is Michelle Zerull and I've crafted a plant that anyone can keep alive. It's a Paper Philodendron!

 

 

This faux-Philodendron plant was made with the Plant Lady Collection from Echo Park Paper. I love the modern prints and fresh color combinations in this collection. I knew that the beautiful peach and green prints would make a great desk plant that would fit well with any decor. I was right! The "Garden Greenery" Patterned Paper was the perfect choice for making the Philodendron's iconic heart-shaped leaves. Both sides of this paper are incredibly beautiful, so I incorporated both patterns into the leaf design. I added the Green/Peach Coordinating Solid Paper as well, and my leaves began to take on a life of their own.

 

 

The leaves were attached to wire wrapped stems and soon became vines. These vines were then added to a paper pot made from "Leaves" Patterned Paper. I could have used the paper to cover a terra cotta pot, but instead, I chose to construct the pot entirely from this luscious paper.

 

 

My plant was intended as a "Thank You" gift, so I made a simple enclosure card to accompany the Philodendron. The Plant Lover 4X6 Stamp Set has two lovely "Thank You" sentiments and images as well as a fun, "I'm Rooting for You" phrase. I chose to stamp my "Thank you" on paper from the 6X6 Paper Pad using black dye ink. Tip: When using your new stamps, stamp the image on scrap paper first to "condition" the stamp. Stamped images are often like pancakes; the first one is seldom the best!

 

 

I love making things from paper and this plant was a joy to construct. It was a pleasure working with the colors and patterns in the Echo Park Paper Plant Lady Collection and I know that come rain or shine, this is a plant that will never die!

Plant Lady Decorative Frame

Hello crafty friends! It’s Dorymar today and I want to share with you a fun inspiration for any last-minute gift or simply a last-minute craft with the beautiful Plant Lady Collection from Echo Park.

I found on SVGS Cut page a free shadowbox photo frame and I think that is a fun project to use as a gift or to decorate any part of my home.  I began with Carta Bella Ultra White Linen Cardstock and cut every base piece of this project.  I covered all the panels with the b-side of the Green Thumb Paper and the Buy the Plants Paper.

The decorative lift was cut out from the b-side of the Hanging Plants paper. To personalize the project, I cut some flowers with a puncher that I had on my shelves from the b-side of Leaves paper.  Then, I used the Blooming Branches Die Set from the Oh Happy Day Collection to cut some beautiful green leaves from the Plant Lady solids papers and add them closer to the flowers. This collection includes beautiful sentiments in the 6x4 and 4x6 journaling cards, in this case, I selected one of the 4x6.

Here you can see how beautiful they look.

Spring Treat Boxes

Hey friends and fans, Dorymar here to share with you some cute little spring treat boxes that I created with the Dots & Stripes Spring collection.  Playing with this cute and fun collection in combination with the I Love Spring collection was very fun!  These boxes are SO easy and fun to make!

I started by cutting the base of the boxes out of patterned paper using Popper Box 3-D Die Set and the Pillow Box 3-D Die Set. On the front of the Popper Boxes I used the 2x2 cards from the I Love Spring 6x6 Paper Pad and added some enamel dots.

After adding embellishments to the front of the boxes, I assembled them and tied them closed with a white ribbon. I love how they turned out and how easy they came together!

The pastel colors of the Dots & Stripes Spring collection are so beautiful that after I started I couldn't stop cutting boxes, so I matched the popper boxes by cutting some pillow boxes from the Dots Collection from Carta Bella, this collection has small dots and matched perfectly with my popper boxes.

After cutting the base of the pillow boxes and before I folded them and adhered them together, I grabbed some stickers from the I Love Spring Collection. If you want to add embellishments is a lot easier if you adhere them before assembling the box.

I Love Spring Collection has the perfect sentiments for the Spring season. The pink box is perfect for a Spring gift with the “hello spring” sentiment and the butterfly stickers.

Do you know what's better than getting a card in the mail? Opening that card and seeing that it's loaded with juicy summer goodness! 

Hello crafty friends! I'm Michelle Zerull and I'd like to share a fun, dimensional card that I made with the Summertime Collection by Echo Park Paper.

 

 

Making a double lever card isn't as difficult as it looks. By using double sided patterned paper, half of the work is already done! I used the Summertime "Summer Floral" Patterned Paper as my focal print. The floral is modern, beautiful and the colors of the collection are all represented. The card opens accordion-style to reveal four panels that are ready to embellish with layers of Summertime icons. 

 

 

A floral bouquet from the Summertime Chipboard Accents starts things off with embellishments that stretch on and on. I did some partial cutting of a sticker from the Summertime Sticker Book. When layered on the chipboard piece, it created my own layered embellishment.

 

 

I think that my favorite piece from the entire Summertime Collection, is a phrase on the last panel that reads: "Summer is a State of Mind". No matter where you are are, or what the circumstances, that quote is relevant. Enjoy the sunshine, and enjoy your Summertime.

Ice Cream Truck Treat Box and Mini Album Combo

It’s Summertime! Hi Echo Park fans, It’s Dorymar here today with you sharing a summer fun project. When I saw the Summertime Collection, I just knew I had to make something fantastic out of it. This collection includes many beautiful patterns and colors. So, I felt inspired by the ice cream truck included in the collection.

I used my Silhouette Cameo machine to cut out the Ice cream Truck cut file from the Silhouette Store (Ice Cream Truck Treat Box-Design ID 145100).  The Ice cream truck is a treat box.  I used the Ultra White Linen Paper for the base and then covered the base with the beautiful patterned papers from the Summertime collection.  

When I started doing my project, the initial idea was just to create the treat box, but according to decoration, I fell more and more in love with the collection, so I decided to make a mini album to keep it inside the box.

The size of the album is 6”x4”x2” and it holds four-pocket pages inside, all made from scratch. The covers and spine of the mini album were cut from chipboard and covered in the beautiful patterned from the 6x6 paper pad. All the sections of the mini have an embellished pocket to hold cards to add pictures and journals.

I didn’t want a single detail to escape in this project, here you can see how the album combines perfectly with the box.

Inside the album has lots of fun and beautiful details, with each turn of a page, the revelations keep coming and are made even better with this adorable collection.

"Summertime" Swimsuit Mini Album

Hello there amazing crafty friends!  It’s Lydia Cost today, and I’m thrilled to be sharing this oh so fun mini album.  For this summer album I was set that I wanted to do a fun shaped album, and I finally decided on the great Echo Park cut file, 188233 in the Silhouette Store.  It is an uncomplicated swimsuit shape, and I knew it would be perfect for my mini album.

I began by cutting out 12 copies of my swimsuit shape onto patterned paper.  I created my covers with two back to back sheets of patterned paper to make them thick and sturdy.  That left me with 8 sheets of patterned paper for my internal pages.

For my internal pages I stitched around the edges of my swimsuit, for some nice dimension on each page.  For my front cover I wanted to do something extra special, so I chose the “Fruit” Paper for those fabulous watermelon seeds.  I knew it was exactly what my swimsuit cover needed.

To add even more interest to my cover I added a pretty pink and green ruffle with a border punch and some of the solid papers in the collection.  It made my swimsuit look like the real deal, and I fell in love with it.

I finished up my cover by using on the amazing dies in the collection.  For the cover I used the “Hello Summer Sun” Die, to create my pretty mint title.  I really love the way my front cover came together with some of the amazing papers in this collection.  I’ve decided I need a matching swimsuit in real life after this, because it’s just so darn cute!

To attach all my pages and covers together, I simply punched two holes in the left hand side of the album and then used two binder rings.

I finished up my album by filling it with all kinds of great summer pictures from our adventures last year.  The embellishments from the collection made it all possible, and I had everything I needed!
