Hi there, friends; It’s Lydia Cost today, and I’m ecstatic to continue sharing some more peeks at my holiday projects. I couldn’t wait to stuff every cute little bit of the “A Lumberjack Christmas” collection into my December album this year. I’m slightly obsessed with those pretty ornaments and vintage Christmas tree trucks!
I always like to do a 6x8 album for my December documenting, because it’s a really wonderful size for all your memories. For this spread I decided on a standard stand-alone 6x8 page, and then for the corresponding page I decided on a pocket page. I really like to mix up the sizes and type of pages inside my album, for an interactive feel.
For my full page 6x8 layout, I chose the oh-so-cute ornament patterned paper. I decided to add a bunch of dimension to the paper, by cutting out matching ornaments to layer on top. I gave them some added character by stitching around the edge of each ornament with some cream colored thread. This really helps add even more character to a simple page.
After I adhered my ornaments down on top of their shadows, I positioned my photo near the top. I backed it with some of that great red plaid and some tissue paper. I’m sure you guys have learned by now that tissue paper is a constant in my crafting. It really does serve so many uses. I nestled in my photo among those pretty little ornaments.
For my title I wanted to create a black “Merry Christmas,” that would really pop off the page. I chose a great die from the new releases and cut it out on black cardstock. Layered over some more stitched on tissue paper, it really holds its own on the spread.
For my pocket page, I chose one of the 4x6 journaling cards from the patterned paper. I decided it needed a little extra pizazz, so I embossed on some pretty white tinsel glitter with my embossing pens. I really think the white glitter gives it just that extra bit that it needed.
For the top of my pocket page, I chose two matching photos of my little decorating his tiny tree. They paired perfectly with some die-cut snowflakes and some stickers from the element sticker sheet. I think the two pages really tie into one another. I’m so pleased with this little spread in my December album.
