Hey there, crafty friends; It’s Lydia Cost today, and is it just me or are you guys getting a little giddy about the fall weather. I’m truly a summer girl, but I can go for cozy flannels and boots too. When I got my hands on the Let’s Lumberjack collection I knew I’d found a new favorite with all that buffalo plaid. It was just oh so handsome and cozy!
My little one was certainly eager to let me photograph him in his “lumberjack clothes.” I couldn’t wait to get them down on a 12x12 layout, after I had my photos printed. For this layout I really wanted to use some of those amazing trunk bark illustrations. They really are some of my favorite masculine shapes in paper crafting. They make the best illustrations for camping photos and boy layouts!
To start my layout, I backed my CB white cardstock with one of the amazing red plaid papers. I love adding a little bit of detail to an otherwise all white layout. I then arranged a bunch of 3x3 squares of patterned paper around my layout. I really wanted to go for a grid layout, because it had been a really long time since I’d created a layout with clean lines like that.
I decided to stitch around the edges of each of my 3x3 squares with my sewing machine. I love the whimsical look it leaves, after fluffing up the edges of each paper. After I got my 3x3s down on the layout, I arranged my two photos next. I decided to do one in each diagonal corner, for another even aspect in my grid layout. They look so cute placed up against those fun patterned papers.
Next, I went about spreading little fussy-cut trunk bark, element stickers, and embellishments to my layout. These little details really do tie in the whole layout so nicely. I pulled a few pieces from the die-cut pack as well for even more interest.
To finish off my layout, I typed up my journaling on my typewriter. I made sure to type out into a 3x3 area as well, so that it would fill another square up on my grid. I left the middle space blank, to help draw the eye to that oh so fun “Timber” element sticker!
I certainly my simple grid layout leaves you inspired today!
