Coffee and Friends Gift Card Holders

Hello there again, crafty friends! It’s Lydia here today, and I’m sharing something so fun! I had so much fun working with the gorgeous Coffee and Friends collection! I’m not a huge coffee drinker, because I prefer tea, but I have lots of friends love it. It made perfect sense to make something that I could give the gift of coffee to others.

These coffee cups were such a labor of love, and I’m a little smitten with how they turned out. I pulled out my cardstock and began drawing out my design with my pencil. I decided I’d make them about 3.5” x 5”, so they would fit any gift card perfectly. I stenciled out each piece, so that it could be traced on to the gorgeous patterned papers in the collection.

After I got my main coffee cup shape and my coffee cup insert cut out, I began cutting out the sleeve for the outside and my cap design. I then went about stitching it all together, to create a gift card holder with lots of dimension and character. I know you guys have gotten used to me adding stitching to everything imaginable!

I made two different color schemed cups, so I could get the most out of the paper pack and ephemera pieces. After I had my cups constructed, I then got out my utility knife and a circle template. I cut flaps onto my pull-out shape, so that my gift card would nestle inside perfectly and not fall out.

I plan to give these two beauties to my little’s Kindergarten teachers as gifts for all the hard work they do. I know I’ll be repeating these time and time again, when I want to give any sort of comfort gift card! It also helps that once you cut your templates out for these cups, you can keep them aside to trace onto patterned paper over and over. That’s my favorite part about designing shaped paper-crafting items. You’ll be able to create it over and over again!
